C-H-R-I-S-T what's in a name?

Christmas...
Christendom....
Christly...
Christian....

What do all of these words have in common? The first 6 letters. Where do they come from?
I've asked people if they are a Christian, and their answers is usually "well, I believe in God". What does that have to do with Christ (actually it does, but how?)

Jesus Christ.. some people think "Christ" was Jesus' last name. As if Joseph and Mary's surname was Christ. But no Christ isn't a name. It's a title.
Some us may be named 'Smith' or 'Williamson' or 'Johnson' or 'Miller' if so, there is a good chance one of your ancesters was a blacksmith or had a son named William or John, or perhaps was a miller.
If Jesus was alive in medievel times he might have been named Jesus Carpenter (he was a carpenter) But instead he is called the Christ.
Much like you would say 'King Richard' or 'President Obama' we can say Christ Jesus. What does Christ mean? What is it exactly a title of?
Of course it means Messiah. You could equally say Jesus Messiah. What does Messiah mean? What is a Messiah? What is His purpose?
What does being a CHRISTian mean? Are they different in some way? Are they the same as everyone else? What makes them different? How are they different? Why are they different?
How can you call yourself a Christian if you don't believe in Jesus? If you aren't following Him and His beliefs, His ways and His teachings? Who do you pray to if not Jesus?
If Jesus is our only mediator between God and man why would you not pray to Him? What does "savior" mean? Saved who? Saved from what? How are they saved? Why are they saved?

Jesus is called 'LORD' over 180 times in the New Testament. (KJV)

Webster's Dictionary defines LORD as...
a person who has power and authority; especially : a ruler to whom service and obedience are due

Is Jesus your Lord? Does he have authority over your life? Have you truly given your life to Him?
If service and obedience are what we give a Lord, how are you serving Him? How are you obeying Him?

Jesus is only called a King a few times. Twice in Revelation He is called the 'King of Kings'. However it is inferred that He a king many other places.
For example in many of His parables He mentioned a king. Also on the cross it said "Jesus, King of the Jews". In John 18:36; Jesus pecifically mention His "kingdom".
In fact the word 'kingdom' is in the New Testament over 180 times (KJV) usually as the kingdom of heaven, sometimes as the kingdom of God.
The definition of king from Websters dictionary looks like this.

a male ruler of a country who usually inherits his position and rules for life

Are you in the kingdom? Is Jesus your King? Does he rule your life? Do you voluntarily surrender your life to Him? Do you obey your King?
If not, how can say He is your king? If He isn't your king, how can say you are in the kingdom?
