Read what I said above how can it be a literal sword if in the garden of gethsemane he tells them not to use it.

If Jesus wasn't crucified, then there would be no salvation. Jesus said He could've called 12 legions of angels. ( Matt 26:53; )
However, protecting Jesus is different from protecting yourself.

Protecting your life is different from protecting your property and being sued.
There is a point where pacifism borders suicidal tendencies.

You’re taking these scriptures out of context. Also you must understand that the interpretation of Jesus is above all other interpretations of the people in the bible.

You'll never convince many Americans of this.
Turning the cheek, giving up your cloak, is not the same as defending your life.

David used a sling. Samson used a jawbone. Jesus told his disciples to buy a sword.
The sons of Ulam and Benjamin were archers. The sons of Ephraim were archers. Gideon used a sword.
Over 380 verses in the Bible mention a sword. In a dozen different places God commanded his people to kill others with a sword.

God has no respect for people who won't defend their countries and families.
There is also a difference between "living by the sword" (making a living using a weapon) and using a weapon in self defense.

When the Romans occupied Israel Jesus never once incited violence in self defence instead he preached go the extra mile and pay the Roman tax.

When peter used the sword in self defence in the garden of gethsemane Jesus rebuked him saying ALL those who take up the sword shall die by the sword.
