To be "Born Again" means to be born from above. This "New Birth" is the act by which God imparts "Spiritual Life" to one who trusts Christ. Without this spiritual life, a person cannot perceive spiritual things, nor can they enter the Kingdom of God.-John 3:3. Evidence that a person is born again in most cases comes about in a peaceful way, a sense of relief or a load lifted, just a wonderful calm that is deep down inside. But, with passing time, I have found that one of the best indicators of the "New Birth" is genuine understanding of God's Word. So, when the Word begins to make sense, to speak to your heart, and convict you of sin in your life; it is a very good indicator that you have the Holy Spirit residing within you. The Bible tells us in Romans 8:16, that the Holy Spirit beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God. The Holy Spirit living deep within us, reveals to us in ways we can understand that we belong to God. I can personally testify to these:
1. I know I am born again because I enjoy the presence of God. I talk to Him throughout the day and I listen for His still, small voice.
2. I know I am born again because I experience the power of prayer and the continual desire to pray.
3. I know I am born again because I often wake up in the middle of the night with tears in my eyes, thanking God for something He's done for someone or for me.
4.I know I am born again because I have a strong desire to read, meditate on, and hear the preaching of God's Word.
5. I know I am born again because I experience a sense of freedom as there is peace in my soul.
6.I know I am born again because I am developing a willing obedience to God.
7. I know I am born again because I have an impulse to witness to others. I have a desire to tell others what a Friend I have in Jesus and what He has done in me, for me, and through me.
8. I know I am born again because I cry out to God from my heart for forgiveness when I sin.
9. I know I am born again because I seek to maintain a pure heart.
10. I know I am born again because I have an intense longing for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
All honor to God, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for it is His boundless mercy that has given us the privilege of being born again, so that we are now members of God's own family. Now we live in the hope of eternal life because Christ rose again from the dead.-1 Peter 1:3.
