Sue, your statement, " people are only born then recieve the spirit "

You are basing that on what ? You are talking about how God does things, not man.

Isnt it true that Christians will use the Bible to confirm others thoughts. The evidence is right infront of you, and you still wont accept because its not the "normal " way.

You even answered your own question about John the Baptist "born " with the Holy Spirit from his mothers womb.

What more evidence do you need.

Curtis what of Samuel, Elijah, Jonah and others.

Elijah, strongest in faith.

Sue, Jesus is the Son of the Most High. Jesus invites us to be the adopted sons and daughters of His Father. That would make Jesus my Brother.

It was from the Father i came, and it will be back to the Father where i go.

This talk may sound strange to you, but it is very normal for me.

Bill -- theologically -- Bible teaching -- from God -- Jesus Christ is the son of God -- 2nd person of the trinity. People become sons / daughters of God Through Jesus Christ the Lord.
Sounds like you're trying to put the trinity and people on the same level -- all mixed in together. That's Not the case.

Part of the role of the Holy Spirit is to convict people of their need For Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. By accept Christ as Savior -- a person Does become a son/ daughter of God. But that does Not make any person a brother or sister to Jesus.

Actually people came from the dust of the ground and to the dust we return. God Did create Adam from the dust of the ground. But because of the fall of Adam and Eve -- we will die eventually and go back to the dust He created us out of.
However -- that's the physical body -- Not the spiritual part of the person. The spiritual / soul of a person does live on to either eternity being spent in heaven or hell. And the hell part will be without God's presence.

Curtis what of Samuel, Elijah, Jonah and others.

Elijah, strongest in faith.
All of these men were anointed with the Holy Spirit, but never were born again! Jesus said that John the Baptist was the greatest of everyone born of a woman.

Mat 11:11 Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. (ESV)

John was never born again even though he was born filled with the Spirit. All old Testament Prophets and kings had the Holy Spirit only temporary until they had finished what God had called them to do. John recognized Jesus and testified that he was the Messiah, the lamb of God that would take away the sins of the world.

John said.......

John 1:29 The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

John 1:35 The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples,
John 1:36 and he looked at Jesus as he walked by and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!”

The only way John could have identified Jesus to be the Son of God was by the Holy Spirit, not only inside him, but by who he saw the Holy Spirit descend upon, and remain.

John 1:31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
John 1:32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
John 1:33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining John him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
John 1:34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

John could have only known this by the Holy Spirit.

Later on, after John was arrested and put into prison, which ended his ministry, we can see the Holy Spirit had left him because his ministry had ended.

Luke 7:18 The disciples of John reported all these things to him. And John,
Luke 7:19 calling two of his disciples to him, sent them to the Lord, saying, “Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another?”

If John was still filled with the Holy Spirit he would have never questioned whether Jesus really was the Messiah, the Son of God!

Old Testament saints looked Towards the cross -- Jonah was the Old Testament example of being in the belly of the great fish -- Jesus Christ would Also in the earth three days.
And wasn't Elijah taken up by God - - did not die.

The disciples initially weren't really positive that Jesus Christ Had risen from the dead. He was walking amongst them for a while -- Doubting Thomas was one. Jesus actually had him touch his hands and feet and then he believed.

The people living in the days of Jesus Christ knew Him in person -- yet, some believed and some didn't.

What about those who continued To minister while in prison. It was simply their New 'mission field'.

The Holy Spirit didn't actually 'come' until the book of Acts.

Hebrews 2:7 ESV / 3 helpful votes
You made him for a little while lower than the angels; you have crowned him with glory and honor,

I wonder how this scripture lines up with a person who says they have authority over angels? If we are lower then angels can we have authority over them?? I do not know, but it does puzzle me for a moment.

Hebrews 2:7 NKJV "You have made him a little lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor, and set him over the works of Your hands."

The preceding verses say "For He has not put the world to come, of which we speak, in subjection to angels. But one testified in a certain place, saying : what is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You take care of him?

contexts tends to put verses in their intended perspective. as per 'Bill's" comments.

Friends, brothers and sisters. I only came here to visit. To share and to be with fellow Christians. I find it peculiar, that Christians who say they are Baptized in the Spirit dont use the Gifts of the Spirit when it comes to questions like " are you a Christian" or " have you repented of your sins" . Certainly i make enough statements to raise an eyebrow or two. But the exercise of the Gift of Discernment is necessary to know the truth. You all have this Gift. Yes everyone here has this and other Gifts.

The Gifts of the Spirit need to be used as often as possible so you can grow with them. Thier use should be like second nature to all.

I never question your validity of whether you are forgiven or a Christian, or are born again. Because i can see your love for God and God's love for you. But sometimes i too have to roll my eyes with comments made here.

What the Lord has given me may seem strange to you in reguards to my spiritual work. I only share with a few as it is hard for others to grasp.

The Lord never told me it would be easy.

If it has caused you struggle in understanding Gods purpose, i am sorry for that.

Understand that there are many things unseen by most, and God is very much in controle.

Brother, you asked me if i have repented my sins and asked Jesus to be my Lord, Master and King.

Are you really serious with this question. ? Has the fruit ive shared with you been so awful that you need to ask me this. To be honest , i couldnt believe you asked me this.

I dont think of myself as hauty, or above anyone. But for a Christian , especially you , who have such Gifts of Compassion. Cant you see with your own eyes, cant you feel with your heart.

Put your trust in the Lord, your trust in the Gifts. Grow in spirit.

Why do i need to be so defensive with my own . This is crazy.

I am a Christian . Enough said

@Bill -- when you've said that you were saved the same way as John the Baptist was -- spirit filled while still in the womb -- there IS reason to be concerned. John the Baptist was the physical , spiritual forerunner of Jesus Christ. He was a real person in history but he also a very special purpose. He died in prison with his head being severed and given to the Queen. But he's the Only person in history that Was 'in the spirit' while in the womb. Because That would suggest that Everyone was born a believer and we Know that isn't how salvation takes place. In John 3 -- Nicodemus is asking Jesus about being born-again and Jesus tells him a person can't be born physically a second time -- but that it's a spiritual birth that takes place After they are born physically,. And other portions say that a person needs to be able to understand right from wrong and that they, Personally, need to acknowledge they have sinned and can't save themselves. And the individual person accepts or rejects the blood of Jesus Christ as sufficient. So -- the question remains -- have You ever done that.

Greetings,

I am reminded of something we read from the Apostle Paul:

If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

1Corinthians 12:15-16

Here is a bit more from that passage:

Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.

Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. And if they were all one member, where were the body? But now are they many members, yet but one body. And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:

And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:

That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
1Corinthians 12:1-27

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
Romans 12:3-5

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him.
Colossians 3:15-17

Brother, you asked me if i have repented my sins and asked Jesus to be my Lord, Master and King.

Are you really serious with this question.
Brother I asked those questions in seriousness because you said you were born again in your mothers womb, were you serious with that?? the reason I asked those questions was not to offend, but to understand better, on line--over the internet it is very hard to tell wear people are coming from for me, so with me and my limited understanding the biblical teaching of being born again, and my personal experience of actually being born again, one must repent and confess Jesus as Lord and savior when they are of sound mind, so I do not know how you can say you were born again in your mothers womb, I was trying to understand you better,

Hope you have a good weekend and I did not mean to offend you, just trying to understand you better, maybe I should just stop doing that
