A born again believer wants to live for God, therefore he/she will study the Bible. The Bible is my manual for living for God. The only reason I want to know what's in the Bible is because the Holy Spirit lives in me. He leads me to study Scripture and He helps me understand it. 1 Corinthians 2:13-And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual. This is my new lifestyle, this is just what I do. I don't have to make myself do it, it just happens. Without the Holy Spirit living within my spirit; I could never understand the words in the Bible because they are spiritual. Only those born of the Spirit can understand things of the Spirit. If I wasn't born again, I'd have no interest in the Bible. 1 Corinthians 2:14-The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.
Once I began to learn the Word of God, He began to show me how to live for Him. I didn't have to make myself live for Him, it just happened. The same will be true with you. When you put your faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified, when you believe in your heart that He is Savior and Lord of your life; God the Holy Spirit will come to live in your heart. He will give you a desire to study the Bible and learn His Word. Then He will show you how to live for Him. He will begin to make changes in your character. You will not have to make yourself change, it will just happen. As He changes your character and makes you more like His Son, Jesus; He will begin to show you specific things He wants you to do for Him. These specific things He will put on your heart to do will manifest into your life through the gifts, talents and resources He's given you. This is the means by which you will live for God.
Listening to preachers is good if they are teaching you the truth. The truth can only be found in the Bible. Being involved in programs at the church is good, if they line-up with the Word of God and if He leads you to them. The Holy Spirit will show you as you study the Bible on your own what He wants you to be involved with. The more you learn His Word, the more you will know what to do. It will just come to you. The Bible is pure, spiritual, and without error. Only when the Holy Spirit teaches you the Word will you know if a preacher is teaching true doctrine and if the programs at a church are Christ centered. As your knowledge in the Word grows, the more truth He will reveal to you.

Joshua 1:8-This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.
UnbelieverS cannot understand the Bible because the Holy Spirit has not made His home in them. They have not accepted God's Son, Jesus, so He can't live in them. Their body is not the temple of God.
1 Corinthians 6:19-Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, Who is in you, Whom you have received from God. Unbelievers can only understand the things of the world. They cannot understand spiritual things.
If you're reading this today and you still trying to figure it all out, I encourage you to tell Jesus you want to know Him. If you're sincere about having a personal relationship with Him, He will touch your heart and draw you to Himself. He'll take over from that moment. Your life will begin to change in ways you never thought possible. You won't have to try and figure it out any longer. It will just come to you.
Father, someone reading this today doesn't know Your Son. I hope they will open their heart to knowing Jesus and living the life you always intended for them to live. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
