"The sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets; and these shall be to you as an ordinance forever throughout your generations. Numbers 10:8 NKJV
God instructed Moses to have the sons of Aaron blow two silver trumpets whenever they went into battle in their own land and also at times of rejoicing during the appointed festivals and feasts. The trumpet blasts served to summon God to rescue them from their enemies and as a memorial of God’s goodness. This practice was to be a lasting ordinance for generations to come.
What do you do to summon God to rescue your family or to remember His goodness for something He’s done in the past? Maybe the way you blow the trumpet in your family is to place your Bible on the breakfast or dinner table to let your family know that they are about to meet with God. Or maybe you blow the trumpet by asking your family to turn off the television and their gadgets to gather around for family devotions. However you do it, make it a lasting ordinance in your family that can continue for generations to come.
Prayer: Lord, we need trumpet blasts in our family because we are a people who often need You to rescue us. And we want to remember Your constant goodness.
