I was asked on another thread about rewards. I didn't want to muddy that thread up too much, so I talk about here.

1 Cor 6:8; On the contrary, you yourselves wrong and defraud. You do this even to your brethren.
1 Cor 6:9; Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,
1 Cor 6:10; nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.
1 Cor 6:11; Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

Do you not know...? Sometimes I want to ask Christians... do you not know?
I notice there is no disclaimer in this passage that says ..."unless you believe in Jesus".

No... it's talking about everyone who does these things whether they are a believer or not. The people who do these things will NOT inherit the kingdom of God... period.
The kingdom of God is like club membership here. If you are still doing these things... you are not in the club, plain and simple.

If you are still doing these things... you WILL NOT inherit the kingdom of God... plain and simple.

... to be continued ..

Gal 5:19; Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality,
Gal 5:20; idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions,
Gal 5:21; envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Again... if you one of "those who practice such things". You WILL NOT inherit the kingdom of God.
It doesn't matter if you call yourself a Christian or not. It doesn't matter if you believe in Jesus or not. If you are living this way... you will NOT inherit the kingdom of God.

Now it seems a lot of Christians these days go around saying we are not under the law. What does that mean?
I can go around killing, stealing, lying, having sex with my neighbors wife, and worshiping false gods?

People will say things like "keeping the commandments won't save you".
Maybe not... but practicing certain sins will certainly keep you from being saved.

.. to be continued ...

1 Pet 4:1; Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,
1 Pet 4:2; so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.
1 Pet 4:3; For the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having pursued a course of sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties and abominable idolatries.
1 Pet 4:4; In all this, they are surprised that you do not run with them into the same excesses of dissipation, and they malign you;

Peter says "arm yourselves". Live the rest of your time in the flesh (or current bodies) no longer for what you lust, but for the will of God.
Your old friends might still be living in lust, sexual immorality, drunkenness and drinking parties... but they should be "surprised" that you aren't doing these things with them anymore.

1 Pet 4:5; but they will give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
1 Pet 4:6; For the gospel has for this purpose been preached even to those who are dead, that though they are judged in the flesh as men, they may live in the spirit according to the will of God.

But make no mistake... they WILL give account to Him who is ready to judge... the living and the dead.
Hmm... the living and the dead... what does that mean?
It doesn't matter if you are spiritually dead or spiritually alive... you WILL be judged.

... to be continued.

This is where some confusion happens. But rewards are not the same thing as inheriting the kingdom of God.

1 Cor 3:7; So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth.
1 Cor 3:8; Now he who plants and he who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor.
1 Cor 3:9; For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building.
1 Cor 3:10; According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each man must be careful how he builds on it.
1 Cor 3:11; For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1 Cor 3:12; Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,
1 Cor 3:13; each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work.
1 Cor 3:14; If any man's work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward.
1 Cor 3:15; If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

Some of us were meant to "water". Some of us were meant to "plant". But neither waterers or planters can cause anything to grow. Only God can do that.
So what do we do... quit watering and quit planting because something doesn't grow? God isn't going to hold us accountable for if things grow or not.
He is going to hold us accountable for whether we planted or watered or not.
This passage is about rewards is heaven, it isn't about salvation. But what is wrong with rewards? Why wouldn't you want a reward?
Some churches are so dead set against any kind of "works". The Bible doesn't say don't do them,it says you will get rewarded for them.

But verse 16 makes a temporary shift here. Notice up above it says even if all your works are burned up... the man himself will be saved.
Ok... I didn't get any rewards, but I will still be saved. ...unless...

1 Cor 3:16; Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
1 Cor 3:17; If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.

...now the passage shifts from being saved... to "God will destroy him".

1 Cor 3:15; If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

I have herd this verse explained as the stuff you do that just does not matter is going to be burned up

.Example you have 5 hrs to spend, well if you spend 5 hrs watching football its not going to get you any rewards but then again it most likely not evil, so it just get burnt up.

Now what about if you go and pray for 5 hrs seems to me the bible says we will get a reward for that

Matthew 6:6
But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

Jesus tells us to store up treasures in heaven,

Matthew 6:20
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal

I would have to believe these treasures are rewards for the things Jesus tells us to do, he tells us fasting, praying, giving are all things we can do to get a reward, those are just a few I think there is more

Matthew 6:18
that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

Matthew 6:4
so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Luke 12:33
Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.

Do it all according to His will to expect rewards. Many will fall along this line:
Matthew 25:37-46 (KJV)
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

1 Cor 6:8; On the contrary, you yourselves wrong and defraud. You do this even to your brethren.

Isn't it interesting that Paul said in (1 Cor. 6:11), "Such were some of you"? Yet, many of these things were being practiced by the Corinthians. Shouldn't Paul have said "and such are some of you"? I wonder why he did that?

Also, there is another interesting thing Paul says here in (6:11). "...but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God." Note how the order is different from our experience. Our experience is we are first justified by faith, then begins our santification, then our daily being washed or cleansed.

Though the Corinthian believers had these sins among them, they have been washed, sanctified, and thus remain justified. So Paul could rightly say, "Such were some of you".

Yes, those in (1 Cor. 6:9-10) shall not inherit the Kingdom of God. But believers are not that anymore. What a wonderful God to provide such a salvation so that He can call us justified in the midst of our sins, because He has sanctified and daily washes us from our sins.

I know, I can hear it coming already. But, to the believer, does such grace cause you to want to go out and sin against God because you are saved? Does such grace cause you to want to try and get away with as much as you can since you are saved? Of course not. Such grace causes us to want to serve Him more. Causes us to grieve over the sins we do and seek God's deliverance from them.

In other words, because we are not that, we don't need to act like that. You are not a liar. So quit lying. You are not full of jealousy. So quite being jealous. You are not a fornicator. So quit fornicating. What we are is "washed, sanctified, and justified."

There is no sin that keeps one from being saved. There is only evidence of sin proving that one is not saved.

The context of all of Paul's teaching that many interpret falsely as ''losing salvation'' is simply:

2 Cor 13:5 Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you unless, of course, you fail the test?

Paul makes it crystal clear that we are able to examine ourselves in 1 Cor 11:31.

God makes it crystal clear that we are able to examine ourselves in Gen 3:22.

This examining of ourselves is an ENTIRELY SEPARATE subject to losing salvation. Teaching one can lose salvation is extreme error. God is not a fool who makes mistakes grafting people into His family. God is able to judge the intent of a heart and mind at a depth nobody can Jer 17:9-11.

There is a sin unto death, unforgivable. Do you need discussion about that?

I have tried to keep OSAS out of this thread. For the purpose of this thread it makes no difference.
Actually I agree with you the way you worded this... "there is no sin"... that keeps you from being saved.
1. Yes there is no sin that can keep you from being initially saved.
2. Even if you are saved, most sins wont exclude you from salvation (@Dovegiven's example excluded, also blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, also taking the mark of the beast)
Were these people saved and then not saved? Were they never saved in the first place? For the purpose of this thread it doesn't matter. The point is, they aren't saved now.

3. However while maybe one or two sins might not cause you "lose" your salvation ( I really don't like that phrase, and don't like the word "lose" )
Definitely continuing in a sinful lifestyle will either 1. Keep you from being saved or 2. Cause you to lose your salvation.

Take your pick, we can argue OSAS another time.

There is a sin unto death, unforgivable. Do you need discussion about that?
Apples and oranges.

A Christian cannot commit a sin unto death as the sin unto death is rejection of Jesus. I have discussed this before. Feel free to discuss. It is inline with the thread topic.

2. Even if you are saved, most sins wont exclude you from salvation (@Dovegiven's example excluded, also blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, also taking the mark of the beast)
Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is rejection of Jesus. I can explain this further if you wish.

The context to the post I replied to did not mention post rapture. Only post rapture where ''being saved'' is to either die for Jesus Rev 2:10 or accept the mark of the beast period does your argument hold water.

Were these people saved and then not saved? Were they never saved in the first place? For the purpose of this thread it doesn't matter. The point is, they aren't saved now.
Well it does matter. Your last line is a terrible statement. ''They were saved and are now no longer saved''. It is as though you and dove do just not grasp how terribly you two are miss representing God. ''He saved you''. Oh by the way, you are no longer saved. I guess He did not ''''save you''''. I guess the cross was not good enough.

3. However while maybe one or two sins might not cause you "lose" your salvation ( I really don't like that phrase, and don't like the word "lose" ) Definitely continuing in a sinful lifestyle will either 1. Keep you from being saved or 2. Cause you to lose your salvation.
No it won't. We all sin. We always sin. Only God is good / perfect Mark 10:18. Anyone who teaches anti OSAS does just not grasp what a Christian is or what it takes to become a Christian.

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is rejection of Jesus. I can explain this further if you wish.

You can explain it all you want, but it isn't rejection of Jesus. It's claiming something God was done by Satan, or claiming something Satan did was done by God.

Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit
Mark 3:22; The scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, "He is possessed by Beelzebul," and "He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons."
Mark 3:23; And He called them to Himself and began speaking to them in parables, "How can Satan cast out Satan?
Mark 3:24; "If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
Mark 3:25; "If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.
Mark 3:26; "If Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but he is finished!
Mark 3:27; "But no one can enter the strong man's house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house.
Mark 3:28; "Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter;
Mark 3:29; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin"—

Mark 3:30; because they were saying, "He has an unclean spirit."

In this passage, the scribes are accusing Jesus of casting out demons "by the ruler of the demons".
Jesus says Satan doesn't cast out his own demons, that would be a conflict of interest.
If Satan is fighting against himself, his kingdom cannot stand.

Because they said this, Jesus tells them, all other blasphemies will be forgiven. But not blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.
... because they were saying He has an unclean spirit".

It tells us the reason He says this in verse 30.

The same story is in Matthew

Matt 12:22; Then a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute was brought to Jesus, and He healed him, so that the mute man spoke and saw.
Matt 12:23; All the crowds were amazed, and were saying, "This man cannot be the Son of David, can he?"
Matt 12:24; But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, "This man casts out demons only by Beelzebul the ruler of the demons."
Matt 12:25; And knowing their thoughts Jesus said to them, "Any kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and any city or house divided against itself will not stand.
Matt 12:26; "If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then will his kingdom stand?
Matt 12:27; "If I by Beelzebul cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? For this reason they will be your judges.
Matt 12:28; "But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.
Matt 12:29; "Or how can anyone enter the strong man's house and carry off his property, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house.
Matt 12:30; "He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters.
Matt 12:31; "Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven.
Matt 12:32; "Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

Did Jesus cast out demons by the Spirit of God, or by the power of Beelzebub? How you answer that question determines whether you blaspheme the Holy Spirit or not.

No it won't. We all sin. We always sin.

Yes it will.

Yes, we sin sometimes.... but some of us don't "always sin". If you're "always" sinning you might want to examine yourself.

Heb 10:26; For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,

If you're sinning "willfully" - the sacrifice of the cross won't be enough. It is definitely possible to fall short of grace if you try hard enough.

Heb 12:15; See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled;

Certain lifestyles will keep you from being saved.

It won't matter if you believe in Jesus or not.

By the way, there are other sins that have dependencies on us whether they are forgiven or not.

Matt 6:14; "For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
Matt 6:15; "But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.

If we continue in sin we are not saved.

You have stopped sinning? Sins you committed in the past you no longer commit? I don't believe you or anyone who says this.

There is truth to continuing in sin as ''sinners'' upsetting God. It is that these people do not repent. Never desire truthful repentance. Not that they stop sinning. We commit sins everyday. It is possible that we commit the same sins everyday.

God sees truthful repentance and degrees to sin. I may think of a woman immorally daily and repent daily, I do not rape...ever.

This kind of self judgement needs to trump cherry picking scripture on sin. As Paul is crystal clear that we can and must work out our salvation in fear and trembling and judge ourselves in Phil 2:12 and 1 Cor 11:31.

Heb 10:26; For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
A curse word is a sin. Do you curse?

Your belief on sin is not working as you do not accept degrees of sin.

The context in Heb 10:26 is that if you continue sinning with no resistance. Sin has to be seen as a mistake by a Christian. A mortal sin however cannot always be seen as a mistake. Since only God is good Mark 10:18, humans and angels are by default full of mistakes / sin.

Certain lifestyles will keep you from being saved.

You cannot read 1 Cor 6:9-10 without 1 Cor 6:1-8. Paul builds up a necessary context to those verses. Namely, Christians can judge better then the unsaved. We will judge angels. Now when we get to vs 9-10, we suddenly fail harder then the unsaved? The unsaved give a thief 5-15 years depending on severity. A murderer 25 + years depending on how many they murdered with or with no option of parole. Christians? Murderer = murderer? Thief = murderer? Thief = thief?

If Paul says that a sin results in hell, it has to be the context of a mortal sin or / and un-repentant sinner / someone with no resistance to the sin.

It won't matter if you believe in Jesus or not.

Matt 6:14; "For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
Matt 6:15; "But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions

Well a Christian does forgive others. Day 1 of grasping Christianity is grasping God forgives you. Day 1 of Christianity is grasping the need to forgive others.

You are not grasping what a Christian is and assigning cherry picked verses talking to those who are not Christians, to Christians. IE Matt 6:15 is Christianity 101.

You can explain it all you want, but it isn't rejection of Jesus.
Yes it is.

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Any blaspheming or rejection of the Holy Spirit is a rejection of Jesus. 1. He does not speak of Himself. 2. We do not know God the Holy Spirit as we do God the Son to truly blaspheme Him. 3. He speaks only of Jesus and leads us into all truth. IE Blaspheming Him is pulling a middle finger to the truth / Jesus.

Mark 3:28; "Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter;
Mark 3:29; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin"—

Mark 3:30; because they were saying, "He has an unclean spirit."

''A house cannot be divided''. The Holy Spirit represents God in the OT and Jesus in the NT. Blaspheming God the Holy Spirit is rejecting God and Jesus. God the Father is not here to be blasphemed. God the Son is not here to be blasphemed. If they were, this passage would read ''Blasphemy against God the Father / God the Son never has forgiveness''.

Concerning (Heb. 10:26), it is explained easily by (Heb. 10:18)

(Heb. 10:18) "Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin."

(Heb. 10:26) "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins."

The whole point of (Heb. 10) is that Jesus one sacrifice is superior to all the many sacrifices under the Mosaic system. Under the Mosaic system, the believer was required to continually bring another sacrifice for his sins. But now that Christ has made the one superior Sacrifice, we who are saved do not go looking to bring anything else. That is sufficient for all eternity.

Concerning (1 Cor. 6:9-11) I explained that in post [HASH=1796]#(7[/HASH]). "Such were some of you". Not, "Such are some of you". "ye are washed, sanctified, justified"

It's claiming something God was done by Satan, or claiming something Satan did was done by God.
This line is a common belief but it is simply a miss-read of the passage.

The point being made is that satan will not oppose satan Mark 3:23. A house cannot be divided Mark 3:25.

Likewise Holy Spirit = Jesus = God. Nobody can think rejecting the Holy Spirit is not rejecting Jesus.

You highlight '''because they were saying, He has an unclean spirit'' Mark 3:30. This is just evidence that they are mocking the Holy Spirit. Calling the Holy Spirit unclean. IE Rejecting Jesus. Not 'claiming the devil did something the Holy Spirit did'.

Matt 12:32; "Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.
This is the only verse you posted that needs some thought as this was said at the time of Jesus. I read it as Jesus knowing the Holy Spirit would come and speak of Him. The cross had not yet happened so the reality of rejecting Jesus was not there. A person in China for example could be held to account for rejecting or heck even knowing of Jesus to reject Him, before the cross. A person in China however has no excuse after the Holy Spirit is here and he has encountered Him.

There is more to think on. The Holy Spirit is not revealing Jesus to all. Only those who seek Him or whom come into contact with Christians. As such, it is their ''first'' experience of Him. Their rejection of Him whom He teaches (Jesus) is pure and true should they blaspheme Him.

Much like the context of Heb 10:29 How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?

There is a sin unto death, unforgivable. Do you need discussion about that?
I believe in sins unto death. They are called mortal sins. Think of Annanias and Sapphira. One sin. Instant death. What we need to grasp is that God judges depths of intent Jer 17:9-11. Some sins point to the unsaved wanting to stay eternally unsaved.

You do not get saved if you are able to continue raping girls for example. God is not a fool that grafts a devil into His family.
