Much of my family lives in north central Texas. They were having record droughts a few months ago.
They couldn't wash their cars, water their lawns, and were not supposed to do laundry or run dishwashers
on certain days on the week. A lake I used to water ski in as a teenager is completely bone dry.
A lot of people there felt like God was punishing them.

I'm not God, so I can't speak for him or whether he was punishing them but...

Then the rains came. Not just a little rain. There were floods, some people lost houses, others lost cars.
It seems 6 or 7 people lost their lives due to flooding. Yet during this time, some people were saying
God was now blessing them.

Drought is not blessing, and floods are not blessing.

God controls the weather. He knows what we need. He knows when we need dryness, and when we need
a little rain, when we need drought and when we need floods. He knows when we need blessings and when
we need admonishment and correcting. He knows where we are as a nation of people, and he knows where
each of us are individually.

For whatever reason the droughts and floods come... do not confuse them with blessings.
God disciplines those He loves. But the methods He uses aren't always a blessing to us.

Thanks for sharing. Although it is a little off topic from your point, I think it is important to understand that the Bible's definition of the word 'blessing' and also the word 'blessed' is different from what most people use the words for in English. In common English conversation, people often say that so and so person was blessed when something good happened to them. Rosalinda was blessed to get a good Math teacher, or Carl was blessed to get a good job. While this is a good way to look at life, and undoubtably a part of God's plan many times, the word blessed in the Bible is really a word meaning that someone is saved. Romans 4:8 offers this definition: "Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin." Psalm 32:1 also says this: "Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered." To be saved is something more that just a temporary event happening to someone.
