"Look among the nations, and see; wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told. Habakkuk 1:5 ESV
You can become stronger in your faith just by paying attention to what God is doing. Miracles are happening—even if those miracles are for others. The problem is that you can become jealous of the good things happening for other people and then become shaken.
God isn’t working just in your life. He didn’t send His Son only for you. His love is big enough for all. That’s why it makes sense to be joyful with those who are happy and to express sorrow with those who are sad.
You weren’t created to be selfish, petty, or envious. Your world can, and should, expand to include others. That means more than just saying other people are important; it’s allowing your heart to connect with their world. Feel what they feel, walk a mile in their shoes, and discover a changed heart. This heart doesn’t compare miracles and it doesn’t feel shortchanged.
God is at work in this world, and especially at this time of year we celebrate this good news.
Prayer: Father, when I’m guilty of not paying attention to what You do in my world, give me eyes to see the miracles around me and thank You for them. May they leave me both astounded and unshaken.
