Matthew 7:15
"Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves
Romans 16:17
I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.

They come in all kinds of shapes and forms. Their mantra is I know the Lord personally, I know more and better than you, I have the perfect knowledge. Instead of being encouraging, they are constantly on the prowl and attack. Their methods are covered up by their proposed knowledge and even scripture use, But, make no mistake, they will attempt to devour you with thier self righteousness, to the point that, though they may not say it directly, they insinuate that you are not even saved.

They are everywhere, they are definetly here at TJ. They prowl through threads and look for others to devour and discredit. They discredit you, so in their weak minds, they validate themselves.
Quick clues to their prowling: (1) They maintain their self worth, their righteouness is above yours and (2) it is all about them and their knowledge and say nothing about Jesus having the only ultimate knowledge and righteouness and, (3) they never can bring themselves to acknowledge you , they are only negative and condescending towards you, that's what they do!

So, beware of the "False Prohepts" at TJ. Your a Christian and know it by God himself or you are here seeking. let no one put you down and remember the gospel that Paul preached:
  • 1 Corinthians 15: 1-4 Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance[a]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures
  • Also remember: John 16:33 33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
  • And so have you, so, beware of the wolves!
  • Do what is of most importants, know the one gospel and pass it on!

Being new to the site . I have a few observations. I have interacted briefly with two guys who seem to want to undermine my input. It is not really about me. I have noticed a lot of hurting people and a lot of people who are new in the Lord . Some are asking questions. I feel I have answers along with my ministry of reconciliation . I would that all would come to a full saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus and know all that God has for them . However instead of aiming to lead men to Christ there are some that are opposing this end whether they know it or not. Why? Got me there . My guess is to appear to be knowledgeable . I have not answered some questions because they were obviously ignorant of the scripture while stating , "I'd like to see where you justify that statement in scripture. " OK . here's one . The Bible talks about men being captives. Someone weighs in with where is that in the Bible ? Do I really have to point scripture and verse to a critic who doesn't know where it is in the Bible ? Isn't it about sharing the narrow way to those wishing to find a personal relationship with Jesus ? Isn't it about passing on what you may have gleened in the 45-50 years of walking with God ? Helping the weak in the faith ? Alas , there are those on this site who think it is about proving to them the scriptures they should know. So there are infallibles truths and absolutes, in the Word that need to be built in to peoples lives however not all are on the same page , some I would say are here for self-promotion and a status that is really all things considered pretty vain. So I would agree beware of wolves in sheeps clothing.

Hi River,

When we post or respond we need to bear in mind Jesus's first commandment, to love one another as He loved us and I think you're absolutely right, there are contributors and posters in TJ who seem sadly lacking in that department. I've abandoned threads that have grown quite hostile otherwise by continuing with them, will all men know that I am His disciple?

That said, I think it's legitimate to ask a contributor where a Bible quote is taken from, otherwise you may inadvertently sound as though you're saying, 'If you don't know now, you never will.' Probably the request was made so that they can read it for themselves and get context rather than trying to trip you up.

I hope you have a lovely and blessed Sabbath day ahead of you

Do you truly think that asking questions is somehow undermining your own understanding upon which you lean?

I feel I have answers along with my ministry of reconciliation .
Then you should have no problem with being asked questions and providing answers.

However instead of aiming to lead men to Christ there are some that are opposing this end whether they know it or not.
Wouldn't it be helpful then for you to explain to these "two men" just how they are opposing Christ? Or is it that you believe they are opposing you? (And that ticks you off?)

I have not answered some questions because they were obviously ignorant of the scripture while stating , "I'd like to see where you justify that statement in scripture. "
So then it would be a "good thing" to spurn those who are "obviously ignorant"? (Are these people beneath you?)

Such a position would seem to oppose scripture - (Surely you're not "obviously ignorant" of this one...)

And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
(2 Timothy 2:24-26 KJV)

Please realize I don't post opinions in the form of a question. I truly ask questions.

Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

(I do believe the forum has a PM feature....)

Isn't it about passing on what you may have gleened in the 45-50 years of walking with God ?
If you base your maturity on age, then I'm way ahead of you... (That seems almost as immature as pointing out spelling errors.)

Alas , there are those on this site who think it is about proving to them the scriptures they should know.
And just who are you to judge who should know these or not?

however not all are on the same page
(You can say that again....)

Well,,, you can't do that if you run away.

'But there were false prophets also among the people,
even as there shall be false teachers among you,
who privily shall bring in damnable heresies,
even denying the Lord that bought them,
and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
And many shall follow their pernicious ways;
by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you:
whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not,
and their damnation slumbereth not.'
(2 Peter 2:1-3)

Hello @RJ,

I have found myself reading Scriptures lately that relate to false prophets, and false teachers, such as Ezekiel 13, and Matthew 23:13-36. Both chapters give an insight into the nature of what they do, and why. In Matthew 23:, it was while reading the 'woes' which contrast with the beatitudes of Matthew chapter 5:2-12: the woes are directed against the Pharisees and Scribes, but the characteristics portrayed can be seen evidenced in our own day. The most subtle are those who masquerade as angels of light. The Lord uses the word, 'beware,' not without reason, and I believe that we should, even in this day, take careful note of what He is referring to, and why, and be watchful.

Though, most importantly, we should seek to remove the plank in our own eye, before endeavouring to take out the mote (or splinter) out of our brothers eye. I noticed in Matthew 5:23-24, that the emphasis is placed on, 'if thy brother hath ought against thee', it is that which should be remedied by seeking reconciliation: and not, 'if thou has ought against thy brother'. In other words, it is our behaviour towards others that should be under our scrutiny, and not the behaviour of others towards us. Yes?

With love in Christ Jesus
our risen and glorified
Saviour, Lord and Head.

Actually, Chris. Reconciliation should be sought after in both cases.

1) Where we realize that others are upset with us:
... that thy brother hath ought against thee;
(Matthew 5:23 KJV)
2) And where we realize that we are upset with others:
Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
(Matthew 18:15 KJV)

And through the years as I read the Greek text I find fascinating a-typical insights.

Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
(Luke 10:36 KJV)

The Greek states, Which now of these three, thinkest thou, made himself a neighbor unto him that fell among the thieves?

Rhema

And yes, while there may be wolves, we have a shepherd.

Hello @Rhema,

Thank you for balancing my words concerning Matthew 5:23 with Matthew 18:15. Such balancing is important, for it so easy to place more emphasis upon one aspect of truth, than another.

Praise God! Yes, we have a Shepherd!!

Easy enough for you to say bro. In my view it wasn't as much to trip me up as to maintain some self-perceived social status a postering common but fairly easy to discern when it is so far off topic .But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. James 3:17-18 KJV Sure all men will know you are a disciple by the love disciples have for one another. So that presumes that someone that calls me to task for saying the Bible says unsaved are captives by my astonishment that they are not aware of this Biblical truth ok here ya go in a different context and at a later time. Luke 4:18,2 Timothy 3:25,26 that's the gist of it so now they know. They can look it up for themselves.

Hey Rhema, I really don't like my comments dissected line upon line so that you or anyone else can interject their comments immediately after. And as far as answering questions , there are some in this system of chat dissection but largely I see it as invasive , undermining , and really a shabby way to communicate. God is not the author of confusion . I'm looking at IRC . This site sucks all the best.

Wolves like "Burger King" discussions... the ones where they only have it "their way".

@riverhooks, what your post says to me is that you don't like being challenged, don't wish to provide supportive scripture for some of the more outlandish doctrines (aka viewpoints) you have posted, and think people should just believe what you say because you said it.

I recall you mentioning a couple of times that you are new to the forum. Does this mean that you are new to posting in forums in general? The style of communication that you so detest IS how forums work. (We're not all here to post recipes and give hugs.)

Wolves don't like being questioned. They snarl and bite and rip and tear by accusing others of being "invasive, undermining, and shabby," because dissecting their words rips off the sheep clothing, exposing truth. Offense is a wolf's best defense. Questions are the sheep's best defense, and honest men welcome the chance to clarify any misunderstandings.

The mature believer embraces the patience about which I've spoken in my previous post.
And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.(2 Timothy 2:24-26 KJV)
Again, please realize I don't post opinions in the form of a question. I truly ask questions.

So I would ask that you truly seek to find out why you are so offended with me.

And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
(Matthew 24:10-14 KJV)

@riverhooks,

My apologies.... perhaps this might have been a better answer:

Here is what it is . I make several comments . Takes up a large paragraph say. My intent is to share those things relevant to a branch Vine relationship with Christ. The format of my statement is then morphed into a differrent format. Which allows my statement to be skewed in a line by line format allowing comments ( historically ) undermining or critical ) lets just say trampled underfoot . If I protest. I must not like questions or am avoiding them or in someway narcissitic in that only my opinion matters. I judged as regarding critics my enemy , Told not post Opinions . Look dude , I preach not myself but Christ Jesus as Lord. Blah Blah Blah

You seem to do snide very well yourself, sir.

Interesting.

"Branch Vine relationship". You use terminology which I find unfamiliar. And I am rather well acquainted with the diverse spectrum of Christendom. Which denomination gave you this meme? And yes, I know of the underlying scripture upon which it is based. (I've translated the entire New Testament, sir.) I'm just curious if this is your own ... paraphrasing, or whether some new teaching has now come across the horizon.

The format of my statement is then morphed into a differrent format. Which allows my statement to be skewed...
I have NEVER altered ("skewed") the context nor the content of the parts of your posts which I address. "Trampled"? Hardly. You just seem unable to deal with questions. Just remember, I wasn't the one implicating you as a "wolf in sheep's clothing".

(But if you'd like to give an example....)

Greetings,

sometimes it can be hard to understand what we read because we read into what is written, more than the writer wrote.

Hello @Ploughman,

Another word for me to look up :).

Definition of eisegesis - the interpretation of a text (as of the Bible) by reading into it one's own ideas.
