I admit this is a copy and paste from face book, but man I thought it was powerful and wanted to know what you think???

. This almost suggest that works can get you in or keep you out??? what are you thoughts???
Of course if you have a strong faith these things should probably come natural to you.

According to the Gospels, there are five types of Believers that will be rejected on the day of judgement:

- Those who don't bear good fruit (John 15:1-2)

- Those who don't keep the commandments (Matthew 7:21-23)

- Those who have no compassion for those in lesser circumstances and don't feed the hungry, clothe the naked, give water to those thirsty (Matthew 25:31-46)

- The one who says ‘My master is delayed in coming,’ and begins to beat the other servants, men and women, and to eat and drink and get drunk (Luke 12:41-48)

- Those who do not make a profit for the Lord with what he has given them (Luke 19:11-27)

Make sure you're not one of them. Bear good fruit, keep the commandments, have compassion for the poor, don't get carried away and use your gifts to profit the Lord.

Good post.
Isn't this five different angles on the same thing - people who say they follow Jesus, but in who reality do not live it out.

Good works don't get us in. Only grace and faith get us in. (what grace and faith mean.. are another subject).
However "bad" works, deeds of the flesh, work's of sin will definitely keep us out.

There's nothing wrong with doing good works, in fact sometimes God requires them of us. They don't save us, but
just because we aren't profiting in some way from doing something doesn't mean we shouldn't do it.
In fact... maybe that's all the more reason to do it.
But what is the motive behind the works? Is it penance for something bad you've done? Is it guilt?
Is it selfishness? Is it profit? Works done in the flesh are sinful works.
Are you doing good works simply because you love God, feel led by the Spirit to do them?
Works done in the Spirit are good works.

Sinful works are another matter. There is grace and mercy for sin. It's a good thing because we all sin
sometimes. However, deliberately, willfully, reprobately, repentantly, purposely continuing to sin
will definitely keep us out... no matter what we say we believe.

There's an old saying that says actions speak louder than words. You may say you believe in something, but
if your actions are showing the opposite of what you're saying, that simply makes you a hypocrite.

These things you've pointed out above? They are not signs of a believer..but of an unbeliever. What is the source of Good fruit? The Love of Jesus in us....The source of compassion? The love of Jesus in us..."Where is the promise of His coming?"....unbelief......

Oh! Your point of making a profit on the gifts God has given. This is a pet aargh for me. Jesus said "Freely you have been given, freely give" I take that quite literally. He gave to me Free (freely) When I give its free. One cannot give and charge a fee. Its not giving it's selling. but that one point, in my opinion is not enough to keep a person out of heaven..

So You're right...Its not works that keep one out of heaven...Its unbelief..

Let's go to everybody's favorite example...heh heh Hitler!! Killed millions of people...If on his death bed he asked Jesus into his heart....Look at all the works he did.....Look at the fact that he repented and believed....Would he go to heaven? Of course he would. Salvation as you say, is based on the Grace of God and your belief in Him.

True repentance will also change the heart of the person repenting I believe and have witness it happen to me. Quick cool story. I was Catholic all my life and believed the priest were the ones that forgave sins just like we are taught so I struggled with a particular sin lust, and would go to confession and think man I am good and clear now the sin has been forgiven, and then a few weeks later repeat the sin thinking ok got to get to confession, repeat cycle. Well then one day I was going to confession (and this in this time period I started reading the bible and really studying it, and started doubting catholics traditions, ) So I go to confession and there is a huge line, and I say to myself I can sit here in line and make small talk or I can go and kneel and pray and talk directly to God through Jesus for forgiveness with all my heart and that's what I did for about 30-45 minutes (probably the longest I have ever prayed) in complete silence and just prayed hard. Well since that day my struggle with this sin has almost been completely removed from my heart. I get tempted just a wee little bit now but its much easier to change my mind set and think of something and move on. So that is my personal example of true repentance being able to change a person heart. Before I would ask for forgiveness but not really deep down want to change, the lord has worked many miracles like this in my life. I used to think I was a true believer back then but I was not, so many are being fooled thanks for all the great replies

Yes, all true for believers. Many forget that we will be judged by our works !

Actually none of them is believers. They claimed fire insurance is all. But were they walking in LOVE? No.. If you love me, Jesus said, You will keep my commandments Did they love Jesus? No.

Every one of these were walking out of love. Out of faith in the Savior. None of them surrendered their will to Him but did things their own way. Need I go on? I'm so glad that being the judge is Jesus' job and not mine!

Yes, believers' works are judged, but we do not undergo judgment.

That's right! We get the blessing of being with our Lord and God Jesus Christ! And a big beautiful house He is building for each of us that I'm going to draw His name all over in big bright neon letters!!! :D

"Jesus Christ King of kings!

Jesus Christ Prince of peace!

Jesus Christ is my Hero!

Jesus Christ my Savior and God!

Praise Jesus Christ Bless His Name!

Praise Jesus Christ I hope He comes to read all these big pretty signs on my house like this one!!!"

lol... :laugh::laugh::laugh:

All lying believers will enter the Lake of Fire. Any believer who preaches OSAS will miss out on eternal life and go to Hell for eternity

Methinks someone is attempting to judge hearts (James 4:12) from outward actions again, forgetting we all fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) and make mistakes as human beings.

I hope God is not as hard on you as you are on others my friend.

Matthew 7:1-2

This is a lie. You miss the point that "believers" is just that---BELIEVERS. All believers are children of God, adopted into His family. God, the perfect Father doesn't un-adopt children. ALL our sins are already punished at Calvary on the body of His precious Son. What you suggest is a mockery to the mercy and grace of God.

Well... obviously you have verses like Matt 7:21 etc.. that seem to suggest believing alone isn'the enough.

It seems repentance and obedience are also required. Without repentance there is no salvation.

If I get saved and commit adultery once or twice... perhaps I might not lose my salvation. But there eventually comes a point where I have to stop doing it.

If I keep on doing it hundreds of times after I was "saved" did I really repent?

I'm using adultery as an example but the same goes for any addictive sin.

Jesus empowers us to overcome.

I'm using adultery as an example but the same goes for any addictive sin.

This is a good subject to cover.

I've had many many addictions in the past. As does every human being on this planet in some form or another.

The things you do are not always perfect indicators of a changed heart. I sinned and sinned and sinned. And I felt horrible and horrible and horrible.

Notice the difference here. "I felt horrible" and I really wanted to turn from the sin, though it continued dragging me back under the surface of the water and filling my spiritual lungs again each day.

When a person is "saved" they DO NOT give up on God, because God doesn't give up on people. He is always there and always forgives the person that wants to get up, brush the filthy sin off, come back to Him, and try to push it aside one more time.

This is not something easy to do if it goes on for a long time. God knows the heart! And people condemning others to hell based on some basic "if you do this or that" shows they do not understand what a relationship with Christ is about.

When Jesus frees you from the prisons and slavery of sins you've chosen to turn away from, and you finally overcome them through Jesus' forgiveness and love.... THEN......... and only then, do you understand just what God done for us and it is then...... that you truly find how much you love God because of how much He loves you.

You can sin your entire life, with the same addiction even... and if YOUR HEART is trying (Matthew 5:6) and you WANT righteousness and you are fighting for it.. You WILL receive because Jesus will not give up on you if you do not give up on Him.

So if anyone is struggling with sin and reads someone condemning you to hell, forget it!!! They aren't Jesus and Jesus Christ is the one that will never give up on you. Turn from sin, fight it, and never give up or believe people that tell you God is sending you to hell because you are bad. WE ARE ALL BAD!!!!!

Whether you wallow in it or not is the difference. If you tell God "I want to sin, and you'll accept me because you love me." Or tell other people "I was born this way, and God will accept me because He loves me." Then no, you have fooled yourself. We were all "born this way"... We are all liars and wicked in our hearts. It is when we ask God to change us and tell Him we want to make Him happy and turn from our sin no matter how hard it is... that God forgives.

Jesus said repent, and believe the good news that I came to save you. Turn from sin (repent), never give up (believe Jesus can and will save you), and you can never go wrong.

The only thing that will send someone to Hell... is ignoring God and not caring. If you are hungry for righteousness, God will never give up on you.

To quote a Frank Sinatra song title, "I did it my way". In the end, what makes us or breaks us is whose will we preferred to follow.

These two posts would seem to disagree with each other. ( I realize they are posted by two different people, but
still they are different points of view)

I partially agree with both things here... to a point. We can struggle... it may even be for a long period of time.
I think a lot of the struggle, is because we are trying too hard in our strength some times. We can't do it
without Jesus. But if we do have Jesus... we can overcome.

I agree with @Ophel about overcoming.

There are many scriptures about promises made to overcomers.
Rom 12:21; 1 Jn 2:13-14; 1 Jn 4:4; 1 Jn 5:4-5; and many times in Revelation... Rev 2:7; Rev 2:11; Rev 2:17;
Rev 2:26; Rev 3:5; Rev 3:12; Rev 3:21; Rev 21:7;

But none of these promises are made to people who are still struggling.
In every verse above.. the promises are made to "he who overcomes". If we have victory in Jesus lets
prove it. Lets live it.

2 Tim 3:5; holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.

So here's a question.....Why do Christians have to struggle with a thing if Jesus already gave us the victory over it? Where in the bible does it say that we have to struggle with sin? OK That was two questions.
