Being liked, being accepted... it's what the world is all about these days. On social media... we all want to post something that people "like".
We all want to do something that people "like". How many likes did you get today? It is said there is a medical reason people like.... "likes".
Being liked causes a chemical reaction (dopamine) in the brain, and people can become addicted to this just like any other drug.

I'm not talking about falling in love with your soulmate here... I'm simply talking about people "liking" me. Even here on TalkJesus
we have the little "heart-like" button. There is nothing wrong with this, I usually click on [Like] a few times a day if something stands out to me that I like.

But when we are willing to compromise our principle and beliefs in order to be "liked" then there is a problem.
I don't want to speak against homosexual lifestyles because it'll offend people and they won't like me.
I don't want to speak out against abortion, or alcoholism, or fornication, or pornography... it'll make me unpopular. People won't like me.
It seems many people are willing to compromise their beliefs and even their actions... in order to be "liked".

I'm not talking about integrity, honor, respect and a good reputation here either. In fact it's often easier to respect someone who will
stand up for their beliefs and principles than someone who is wishy-washy and easily swayed.

I've even had people who ave disagreed with me here on Talkjesus say something like, well "I got XXX likes, and you only got X likes,
so obviously I'm right and you're wrong, because people like me better". The truth is... I'm not here to be liked. If you like what I say
fine, if you don't that's fine too. We are entitled to our opinions. But we need to be careful of making being "liked" our reason for living.
We can't make "being liked" our god.

Luke 6:26; "Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for their fathers used to treat the false prophets in the same way.

Maybe we should be worried when everyone is agreeing with us and worldly men speak well of us.
I think it's safe to say Jesus wasn't well "liked" by the Pharisees, Sadducees, and Scribes. But He didn't let what they
thought about Him change His values or beliefs.

Jesus didn't promise us the world would like us. In fact it was more the opposite of this.

Matt 10:22; "You will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved.
Matt 24:9; "Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name.
Mark 13:13; "You will be hated by all because of My name, but the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.
Luke 21:17; and you will be hated by all because of My name.
John 15:18; "If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you.
John 17:14; "I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
