I have been a christian for over a year now and i still struggle understanding a lot of things, one of them being the stuff about astrology and star signs, i would appreciate very much anyone who could help me with this subject because i often find myself getting led on to believeing things which i shouldnt

First of all upto about 2 months ago i believed in star signs and astrology quite a lot and didnt realise it was bad for a christian to do that! but when i realised a few months ago i stopped believeing in astrology as such... but now i am finding it hard again because i used to go by certain star signs and believe that they made the person a bit who they are, like for instance i am a pisces in astrological terms and according to astrology pisces tend to be sensitive and very emotional and spiritual, now i am all of those, especially spiritual, so because i tend to be easily led i thought wait a minute maybe this astrology stuff is true again!

It often confuses me and i tell myself not to believe it all because it is satans work trying to fool me into thinking star signs are true etc, but then again my uncle who is very spiritual and a big christian who has devoted his life to bible study and becoming a pastor and youth worker in the church, he is a saggitarius and according to astrology they tend to be people who believe in god and be christians etc! so all this is putting thoughts into my mind that there may be truth in it but i dont want to have that doubt in my mind I want to know in my mind that it isnt true.

And one more thing that also caused me to have a bit of belief in it is the fact that apperantly pisces are meant to have wonderful eyes (now i dont know how they managed to come up with that ) but i have very blue eyes and people tell me my eyes are really nice, and i really like this girl who has amazing eyes and i didnt realise till after she was a pisces aswell, i mean is this satan trying to fool me into believeing star signs?

any help would be appreciated so much! because i feel as if im being dragged down into star gazing, as the bible puts it.

I don't know what "sign" my husband is, but he has great eyes and so does his older son, and the baby son that he and I have. I think alot of the "facts" that astrologers tote are mere coincidence. Tens of thousands of people all over the world believe in God, but they aren't all a sagitarrius.
You are a wonderful person and a creation of God, christian Andy. You don't need this stuff confusing you. It's not in the Word of God, so it's doubtful if there is anything good about it.
I understand your natural curiousity. Curiousity is good! Use it to grow hungry for the Word. I "predict", lol, that you are already becoming hungry and thirsty for righteousness!
"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt should lose its taste, how can it be made salty?" Mt. 5:13a
"In the same way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven." Mt 5:16

Thanks for that Dreamer Yeh i think everyones eyes are great and plus they are the work of god for us to see I dont know how astrology says that pisces have wonderful eyes, like they are an exception but i am usually easily led and quite gullible so i believe things too easily! And maybe the fact im 18 doesent help me because im not really experienced enough to just brush it off I dont really believe in star signs anymore, i used to before i realised it was wrong whilst being a christian! now i have stopped reading horoscopes and things.

Like you say everyone who is saggitarius wont all believe in god, but the astrologers say that certain signs have certain traits, so some people may be like their signs and some wont, but i just think its something they say to cover their backs if someone isnt like the star sign they are meant to be!

Dealing with an addiction to Astrology is a lot like dealing with any other addiction. There are three critical initial steps you must take:
!) Admit that you have the addiction and that it has messed up your thinking.
2) Make a decision to believe that Almighty God can and wants to deliver you from it.
3) Pray each morning that He will keep you from this addiction for that day.
Try to avoid thinking about not doing Astrology for the rest of your life. That kind of thinking is too overwhelming. Do it one day at a time. As Jesus said, "Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." (Mt 6:34).
Also, meditate on (and believe) this scripture: "No temptation (trial) has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But, when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." (1 Cor 10:13)

I am sensitive, emotional, spiritual, believe in God, and have wonderful eyes.
I'm not pisces or saggitarius. I am who I am because the Almighty Father made me this way. Keep your eyes on the Creator, not the creation.
I had a guy at work who believed in that stuff and read his horriscope everyday and was amazed at how it "fit perfectly" into what happend to him that day. He had no explanation as to why you could read 30 different things in 30 different newspapers though. I mean how can it be your day to "take a chance" in seattle, but in Detroit you should "stay low key"? It's rediculous really. Anyway, I started reading his horiscope to him when he stopped getting the paper, and I would cut out that section and put it in the desk. After a week of these "amazingly accurate" readings, I showed him that I had been reading him the wrong one all week. But yet they were all accurate? Then I read all of them for a single day, and amazingly, everyone of them could be applied to him that day!
It is a business.

thank you so much you have helped me by posting those replies, I know it seems so silly that i would believe all the star signs rubbish and astrology but it is something that my mum and grandma believe in so i suppose i got the urge from then to also believe it but now i will make sure i dont take much notice of it

I mean i have always been someone who has been quite easily led and believe things really easily and then people will say "i was only joking! gosh you are so gullible!" etc but its just my nature, i always trust people that what they tell me is true and sometimes they are lying to me and i get blamed for being too gullible then:embarasse

Like some unbelievers (as i shall call them because they dont believe there is a god nor do they believe in jesus etc) just say that the reason i believe in god is because i am easily led and tend to believe in things quite easily, but personally i see it as being spiritual and open to believe new things

Like if i had hardened my heart to not believe in anything other than my own cocooned lifestyle of me, my family and friends before i wouldnt have gone to the lord, but because i was open to what the bible taught us and the words of the lord i am now saved and have been for about 2 years so i wont let unbelievers discourage me by saying bad things about me!

Thankyou to everyone who has written in about this subtle enchroaching form of mind-binding, the occult. I've been a Christian for years, but I used to follow astrology and psychics at the same time, and became oppressed. I then cleansed myself of the long-term addiction to astrology when I got baptised a few years ago.

However lately its been trying to entice me again, which is always a concern, as finding comfort in the occult is not trusting in God. I even tried to justify it at one stage saying that just doing astrological personality profiling isn't bad, because it isn't like a horoscope future forecast. But it is bad because someone told me it is just a ploy to limit people's lives.

Sometimes I suddenly have to fight off urges of curiosity in astrology, or combat recollections in my vast knowledge of it which I acquired since 15 years ago. Your replies are encouraging me in continually resisting my past involvement. I need to pray daily, and renounce it, and ask for God's strength to totally cleanse myself of the occult, in Jesus' name. Praise God.

We are told to renew our mind with things of Christ and to not turn to the left or to the right. I suggest get into the Bible it is the answer to all of life's problems. Jesus said, "I AM the way and the truth and life."
For me, I ask myself, did not God create the stars, so I quess I should ask Him what His plans are for my life.
Ask the Good Lord to take this from you and He will...

Astrology could very well be true, many evil things or ways are true, but we are told to not be a part of it or participate in it.

So your question should not be: Is it true? but, should I carry on listening to it or reading it?

I've just read you too quoted this scripture, it's God's word, given doubled
must need to be given twice.
This is what God's word has to say about above.
She was demon possessed, and Paul was very grieved, so should we
be regards anything to do with this.

Isn't it a marvel the way the Lord Jesus shows us these things
things which when we were in the world we did and thought
nothing of, that's why he takes the foolish things of this world
and makes them wise.
1 Corinthians 1 v 27
But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

Isn't He just wonderful, what an awesome God we serve.

If we only call upon the name of Jesus in the situations we are
found in, He will rescue us from them.
He has for me and I know He does it for us all, He loves His children
so much.

I have just had a few words with my Mum tonight over such things,
she would have a tendency to believe in stupid things after being
saved 17 years, like touching wood, I'm always telling her, trust God
instead of wood, nothing in that to help her, or she wouldn't let you
put new shoes on the table, bad luck she'd say,
Tonight she asked me 'who first footed you then?'
well, I thought here we go again, I said Mum I don't believe in that
it's tradition, supersition call it what you want,
I couldn't get her to see that though, she said well your Christianity
is differant from mine, oh dear that's sad.
as if that could be possible.

I was lead by the Holy Spirit about these things plus teaching in
church, but you know they are wrong, so how come all Christians
don't know?
In my Mum's case it's a lack of understanding and growing, as in
saved and stuck. Thats a very sad way to be, after all those years.
