As God is Holy, we have to be holy

Many think that once if you are saved and baptized then you will make it to heaven. But according to Bible says, Ye be holy as I am Holy. And mainly I want to talk about the appearance. When our heart is Holy, our appearance also changes. When others see, they will see Jesus. They cannot see our heart. But through the way you look you can reflect God. So our dressings, specially ladies should be careful that they should not be like the worldly people wear. And I have seen many famous preachers wife dress like hollywood stars. This is not at all pleasing to God's sight. That is what I feel.

I agree with you that there is much to do after we have become saved and that we cannot just chill in our salvation and live however we want without regard. I am, however, not in agreement with you concerning your connection with certain things to our salvation.

Ephesians 2:9 It is by God's free grace we are saved and not by works as well

"For it is by free grace (God's unmerited favor) that you are saved, (delivered from judgement and made partakers of Christ's salvation, through (your) faith. And this (salvation) is not of yourselves (of your own doing, it came not through your own striving) but it is the gift of God.

Not because of works (nor the fulfillment of the law's demands) lest any man should boast. (It is not the result of what anyone can possibly do, so no one can pride himself in it or take glory in himself)"

Also

John 3:16 gives us the requirements for salvation alone

"For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world, that he (even) gave up His only begotten (unique) son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life."

Both taken from the Amplified translation

One other thing that bothered me is that, i agree that people need to be careful how they dress but you say 'women especially'!

I do believe brother Nebubini, that you are being sexist and offensive to women of which i am one. I have seen many men with shirts off and trousers tight....let's not go any further into that...you get my point.

On the whole i do get your point and i agree but for the important exceptions.

I am not a brother, I am a sister. As I am a lady, I insist that the ladies should wear clothes as God wants them to be. But men do not cause much problems in dresses. It is the women. Even the wives of great preachers go to beauty parlour to make themselves beautiful. But as the Bible says, this flesh is nothing. We should seek what is of heaven. Thanks for the support

Hi there nebubini very interesting subject. . .three things came up for me . . .im goin one thought at the time . . .

1. I once heard this amazing word in Live-Chat: ..."UNSNATCHABLE"...

I knew that. . .but never heard that word before . . since I am German. . .it really hit me and I love that:

When other people meet me . . . they usually just notice that "how come you are cheerful when life is so *beeeeeeep*"
how come you wanna be honest . .. when everybody cheats and lies. . .
how come you wanna raise your kids responsable . . .they do what they want anyway. . ."

you see. . .the way you will spend with your Lord Jesus will eventually be noticed . . .and will be questioned too . . .

Still . . .

All the people see is me . . . a normal human being with all stressy problems to solve and same hectic and challenges to meet and stand up too. . .

Most of the times it is only noticed that you are different. . .because you handle the situation different. . .and thats the first open door to evangelize in saying : that you have taken on the offer and help from the Almighty God through Jesus livin in you with His Holy Spirit . .. Hallelujah .. .Thank God for possebilities to share the Gospel when we stand in regular human trials and temptations. . ..

They still see a sinner, a human being. . .who thankfully took on the gift of Gods mercy over'em :love:

This one is really short lol

Considering I understand what it means to me that God forgave and threw away my old life. . .I understood for me what it means to me becoming a daughter of God. . .being Holy in His eyes. .. being His child as Jesus is my brother. . .in His eyes. ..

. . . .my dresscode so changed of course too. . .wanting to be precious in His sight. . .not to be embarrassing to my Father in Heaven. . .still knowing I couldnt make Him happier in Rags or wearing Pink. . .but to be the walking Temple of His Holy Spirit and be humble and pretty as is . . .

Soooooooo yes it changed my view of clothes. . .I still enjoy pretty stuff and I believe if I see things I think are pretty but the Holy Spirit convicts me of thinking its pretty because of being "sexy" I dont mind passing it up. .. because there is a really cool one waiting somewhere I dont feel weird about . . .

Ok . . .phew. .. hmmm. ..please reply if you have any problems with my bubblin thoughts this sunday. .. I just got back from the worship service and felt like typing my heart out

Its a good point nebunini makes I think. Especially in this time of history, its important for God's people to separate themselves from the world. I've noticed that a provocative sense of dress, even in church groups is being seen as 'liberty' from the drab restraints of 'the old law' Christian living. Young girls of 12 or 13 act and look much older than the previous generation. The 'sexy' style was alive in the last church I attended. Thats one of the reasons I walked out halfway through the service. I couldn't grasp the notion of my minister being this woman wearing a low cut red dress. I know a lot of people probably disagree with this. I don't mean women should be going around in a hajib style outfit! Like Peeps said, its ok to be pretty, but I think everyone knows when a little too much is on show!
