As a Young Lady, Am I Surrounding Myself With the Wrong Person?

Discussion in 'Relationships' started by a7xmonte, Jun 24, 2016.

  1. I'm in a new chapter in my life where I'm getting ready to face challenges and obstacles. Growing up isn't easy, but it's a good experience for you to become wise and more understandable of certain things. Throughout this new page in my life, I find myself getting more involved in the church and feeling good about a lot of the decisions I make as an individual. My only problem is a special person in my life that I care a lot about isn't on my level when it comes to living a holy life. It's obvious and easy to say "surround yourself with those who bring out the best of you and who will benefit you", and this person does that. The only problem is that they're not living a "holy life". No one is perfect, but they can certainly work on it. This person has some "not so good" ways about them which ends up influencing me at times. Even though they make me happy and means well. What's the best choice to make?
  2. The Bible warns us all about what friends we keep - bad company corrupts good conduct
    1Corinthians 15:33 KJV
Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
    Proverbs 9:6
Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.
    Proverbs 12:26
The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduces them.
    Proverbs 29:3 BBE
A man who is a lover of wisdom is a joy to his father: but he who goes in the company of loose women is a waster of wealth.
[spiritual wealth as well as material wealth]
    Proverbs 21:16
The man that wanders out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
    Proverbs 21:17
He that loves pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loves wine and oil shall not be rich.
    [in the things of God]
    Proverbs 3:7
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
    Proverbs 4:14
Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
    Proverbs 17:13
Whoso rewards evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.
    Proverbs 13:20
He that walks with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
    Proverbs 22:24-25
Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:
Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
    Proverbs 27:6
Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
    Proverbs 28:7
Whoso keeps the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shames his father. [God]

  3. There is nothing wrong with this person making you happy, or with you being happy concerning him. You no doubt have some affection for him which is normal for us humans. Just remember that you also have found happiness in the Lord. Do what your spirit tells you to do, because your heart is filled with the emotions concerning affection for the man, and cannot be trusted to make good choices for you right now.
