Matt 15:13 But He answered and said, "Every plant which My heavenly Father did not plant shall be uprooted.
Matt 15:14 "Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit."
I think there is a subtle difference between a false prophet, a false teacher, and a blind guide.
Unfortunately they all end up in the same place.
Matt 23:16 "Woe to you, blind guides, who say, 'Whoever swears by the temple, that is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple is obligated.'
Matt 23:17 "You fools and blind men! Which is more important, the gold or the temple that sanctified the gold?
Matt 23:18 "And, 'Whoever swears by the altar, that is nothing, but whoever swears by the offering on it, he is obligated.'
Matt 23:19 "You blind men, which is more important, the offering, or the altar that sanctifies the offering?
Luke 6:39 And He also spoke a parable to them: "A blind man cannot guide a blind man, can he? Will they not both fall into a pit?
Luke 6:40 "A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher.
Jesus isn't talking about people who are physically blind. He is talking about spiritual blindness. But there are a good many people, who have no spiritual discernment at all, trying to lead other in spiritual matters. It may not be malicious, it may not be intentional, but it doesn't matter, they will both fall into a pit.
John 9:39 And Jesus said, "For judgment I came into this world, so that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may become blind."
John 9:40 Those of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these things and said to Him, "We are not blind too, are we?"
John 9:41 Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, you would have no sin; but since you say, 'We see,' your sin remains.
One of the harder verses in the Bible here... controversial to say the least. OK Jesus can help those who can't see... see.
But He also... sometimes... makes those who see...... become blind. Why is this?
Rom 2:17 But if you bear the name "Jew" and rely upon the Law and boast in God,
Rom 2:18 and know His will and approve the things that are essential, being instructed out of the Law,
Rom 2:19 and are confident that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,
Rom 2:20 a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of the immature, having in the Law the embodiment of knowledge and of the truth,
Rom 2:21 you, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that one shall not steal, do you steal?
It seems there are no more students here on TalkJesus.... Everyone is a teacher. Everyone is an instructor... everyone is "confident that' .. they themselves...
"are a guide to the blind". ... and yet... yet... Everyone is leading everyone else down a different path. I can't help but think a few of them are blind.
Here is a test I use personally.... maybe it doesn't work for everyone.
2Pet 1:5 Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge,
2Pet 1:6 and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness,
2Pet 1:7 and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love.
2Pet 1:8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2Pet 1:9 For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins.
Does the person teaching you have patience? Perseverance? Godliness? Brotherly kindness? Brotherly love?
If not... maybe that's not who you should be listening to.
I wonder how many people here on TalkJesus live in Laodecia?
Rev 3:15 'I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot.
Rev 3:16 'So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.
Rev 3:17 'Because you say, "I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing," and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked,
Rev 3:18 I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.
Jesus is talking to the church here. Saying they are blind. But... He says they can get eye salve... "so that you may see".
Is there anyone more blind, than those who refuse to see?
Matt 13:13 "Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.
Matt 13:14 "In their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says, 'YOU WILL KEEP ON HEARING, BUT WILL NOT UNDERSTAND; YOU WILL KEEP ON SEEING, BUT WILL NOT PERCEIVE;
Matt 13:15 FOR THE HEART OF THIS PEOPLE HAS BECOME DULL, WITH THEIR EARS THEY SCARCELY HEAR, AND THEY HAVE CLOSED THEIR EYES, OTHERWISE THEY WOULD SEE WITH THEIR EYES, HEAR WITH THEIR EARS, AND UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART AND RETURN, AND I WOULD HEAL THEM.'
Matt 13:16 "But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear.
"They have closed their eyes".... "otherwise they would see".
