And after they left from Perga they went to Pisidian Antioch, and having entered the synagogue on the day of Sabbaths they sat down. 15. And after the reading from the Torah and the Prophets the synagogue leaders sent for them saying, “Men, brothers, if someone among you has a word of encouragement for the people, speak.” 16. Then when Paul got up, he signaled with his hand and said:
“Men of Israel and God-Fearers, you must listen. 17. The God of this People Israel chose our fathers and lifted the people high during the sojourn in the land of Egypt and led them out from her with an upraised arm, 18. and in the same way he put up with them forty years in the wilderness 19. and after He conquered seven nations in the land of Canaan He distributed their land as an inheritance 20. after about four hundred fifty years from going to Egypt. And after these things He gave them judges until Samuel the prophet. 21. And afterward they asked for a king and God gave them Saul son of Kish, a man from the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years, 22. and after He removed him He raised David for them as king, of whom He also said when He bore testimony, ‘I found David the son of Jesse, a man according to My heart, who will do all My will.’ (1Sam 16:12,13, Ps 89:20, Is 44:28) 23. From the seed of this one, God, according to the promise to Israel, led a savior, Jesus, 24. while John proclaimed the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel before His coming. 25. And as John was fulfilling the course of life, he was saying, ‘Who do you suppose I am? I am not He: but behold after me He is coming of Whom I am not worthy to loose the sandal of His feet.’
13:26. “Men, brothers, sons of the family of Abraham and those God-Fearers among you, the message of this salvation was sent out in us. 27. For those who dwell in Jerusalem and those who lead them because they have not known this One and the voices of the prophets, those who are read every Sabbath, the leaders fulfilled the prophecies when they condemned Him, 28. and although they found nothing deserving of the death penalty they asked Pilate to condemn Him to death. 29. And as they brought to completion everything that was written about Him, taking Him down from the cross they placed Him in a tomb. 30. But God raised Him out from the dead, 31. Who was seen on many days by those who went up with Him from the Galilee to Jerusalem, who now are His witnesses to the people. 32. And we are bringing you the Good News, the promise that was made to our fathers, 33. that God has fulfilled this for their children, since He raised Jesus for us as it has also been written in the second Psalm,
‘You are My Son,
today I have begotten You.’ (Ps 2:7)
34. And that He raised Him from the dead, no longer being about to abandon Him into decay, just as He has said that
I shall give ‘to You the faithful holy things of David.’ (Is 55:3)
35. And therefore in another He says,
‘You will not give Your Holy One to see decay.’ (Ps 16:10)
36. For indeed David, after he served his own generation in the will of God, fell asleep and was placed with his fathers and saw corruption: 37. but the One Whom God raised did not see corruption. 38. Therefore let it be known to you, men, brothers, that through this One forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and cleansing from all things by which you were not able to be put into a right relationship with God by means of the tradition of Moses, 39. everyone who believes in this One is put into a right relationship with God. 40. Therefore you must beware that what was spoken by the prophets would not come,
41. ‘Behold, scoffers,
and marvel and perish,
because I am doing a work in your days,
work which you would not in any way
believe if someone would tell you in detail.’” (Hab 1:5)
13:42. And when Paul and Barnabas were leaving, they were urging them to speak about these teachings to them the next Sabbath. 43. And after being dismissed from the synagogue many of the Jewish people and the devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, as they spoke to them, were persuading them to continue in the grace of God.
13:44. And when the Sabbath came nearly all the city gathered to hear the word of the Lord. 45. And when the Jewish people saw the crowds they were filled with jealousy and were speaking against him, blaspheming the things being spoken by Paul. 46. Paul and Barnabas, speaking freely, said, “It was required to speak the Word of God to you first: since you reject it and do not judge yourselves worthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the heathens. 47. For so the Lord did order us,
‘I have placed you for a light to heathens
for you to be bringing salvation to the very ends of the earth.’” (Is 49:6)
48. And the heathens, hearing this, were rejoicing and praising the message about the Lord and as many as were believing were being set into eternal life: 49. and the message about the Lord was being spread through the whole country. 50. But the Jewish leaders aroused elegant women who were worshipping and the leading men of the city and they stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas and they expelled them from their region. 51. And after they shook off the dust from their feet they went to Iconium, 52. and the disciples were being filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.
In this passage we see some of the basic structure of Jewish "Traditional" worship and doctrines. In verse 17 through 23 we get a "Traditional" doctrinal belief of Judaism that has rightfully carried over into CHRISTian doctrine, that of a personal and involved GOD. A GOD who actually cares about the daily lives of HIS people, HIS children, HIS creation! A GOD who has predestined a pattern to get HIS children to return to HIM, to turn from their own ways and to follow HIS leading. A GOD who is not only involved in their daily lives but who listens to their request and responds in time.
23. From the seed of this one, God, according to the promise to Israel, led a savior, Jesus,
Y'SHUA The Promise made flesh...
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. KJV Jhn 1:12 -14
I made this into one passage removing the verse dividers purposefully so that you would read this as one verse.
Where in this passage we read "the word" we could equally read "the promise". In the Greek this is logos which when defined in English the first three and thus most common usages are described as...
1) of speech
a) a word, uttered by a living voice, embodies a conception or idea
b) what someone has said
1) a word
2) the sayings of God
3) decree, mandate or order
4) of the moral precepts given by God
5) Old Testament prophecy given by the prophets
6) what is declared, a thought, declaration, aphorism, a weighty saying, a dictum, a maxim
c) discourse
1) the act of speaking, speech
2) the faculty of speech, skill and practice in speaking
3) a kind or style of speaking
4) a continuous speaking discourse - instruction
It has become common doctrine in "the church" to describe this as the second person of YHVH becoming a flesh being, but let me ask you, "Is that what is happening?"
"Is that what YHVH is really trying to convey to us?"
Or is it that HE is telling us that HIS Promise was given a house. A house, a mansion, if you will, that dwelt amongst us as a human. That, just as HE had done in Adam, HE spoke and a being was created. That when HE spoke, this word of HIS, this logos was acted upon by HIS own authority, HIS power, HIS SPIRIT and something (a man) was created.
That at this point YHVH was creating something different. That at this point YHVH was creating something totally different!
Something that had never existed before!
HE was not creating something totally out of nothing or what the Bible describes as the dust of the earth and HE was not creating a man "exactly" the same as every other man in that this one would not have two earthly parents but HE was creating a man from the combination of an earthly being and HIS spoken words.
That HE was creating a New Creature, one that had never existed before!
A being that not only was a man but that was a man with HIS SPIRIT, HIS power, HIS authority living within Him. That HE was creating, what today we describe as a "Born Again Believer (man)."
This man was born of the flesh of humanity and of The SPIRIT of YHVH.
He was not yet ready to be a witness of YHVH but he was ready to live his life "for" YHVH or dedicated to doing HIS will.
This is The Word of YHVH made flesh and dwelling amongst us!
Acts 13:26. “Men, brothers, sons of the family of Abraham and those God-Fearers among you, the message of this salvation was sent out in us.
Paul then continues to tell them the "Good News" about who Y'SHUA was and the basics of His life, death and resurrection. He outlines THE True Doctrine of The CHURCH of YHVH. In his discourse he comes to the point of stating...
32. And we are bringing you the Good News, the promise that was made to our fathers,
Y'SHUA was this "Promise"!
He was this Word made flesh!
He was the Vow of YHVH made unto humanity and to satan!
At this point then Paul steps into the art of Apologetics and uses The Scriptures to prove that he is not "Loony-Toons" or bringing a false religion to them. He shows them through his description that upon the completion of the life of Y'SHUA that YHVH accepts what He lived as the eternal sacrifice for mankind, that HE accepts Him as "THE" eternal Lamb of sacrifice for the sins of mankind and at that point, then, He, Y'SHUA is declared YHVH's Son...
Acts 13:33. that God has fulfilled this for their children, since He raised Jesus for us as it has also been written in the second Psalm,
‘You are My Son,

Hbr 1:3 Who being the brightness of [his] glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
Hbr 1:4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
Hbr 1:5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? KJV
Only after His life is complete and He has offered Himself for the sins of mankind is He declared by YHVH to be HIS begotten Son. Only after this point has YHVH's word, HIS power and HIS authority returned unto HIM (YHVH) and it has not returned void or empty but fulfilled!
In the decades preceding, YHVH's word had been spoken to Israel and although they attempted to live it out none had done so completely. All had fallen short of the glory of YHVH. All had fallen subject to the entire Torah because all had lived it incompletely until Y'SHUA.
Only in the acceptance of the completed sacrificial life, death and resurrection by the power of YHVH in and through the life of Y'SHUA is YHVH's promise of salvation to mankind fulfilled.
Only through the blood of the eternal sacrificial Lamb from YHVH is their acceptance of a person before YHVH.
Only through the blood of the eternal sacrificial Lamb from YHVH is there forgiveness for the failings to live The Torah completely.
Only through the blood of the eternal sacrificial Lamb from YHVH is their is there forgiveness for this failure better known as sin.
This is the declaration of Paul as he continues...

And when the Jewish people saw the crowds they were filled with jealousy and were speaking against him, blaspheming the things being spoken by Paul. 46. Paul and Barnabas, speaking freely, said, “It was required to speak the Word of God to you first: since you reject it and do not judge yourselves worthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the heathens. 47. "Religion" is ugly and it makes everything it touches equally ugly!
Paul had taken The Scriptures and proven to those declared to be the "Keepers of the Faith" that they were nothing more than "religious".
Using Apologetics he showed them the errors of their beliefs yet they would have none of it.
YHVH had used Paul as the instrument of HIS self to lead those listening in the power of The HOLY SPIRIT and they rejected it. In fact they really were rejecting YHVH.

Can your beliefs withstand the Litmus paper?
Can they be tested, discussed and defended within the scope of the Full Gospel, the full scope of the Word of YHVH. Can you discover that you have lived in error or are only you and yours the defenders, the "Keepers of the Faith?"

Paul had taken The Scriptures and proven to those declared to be the "Keepers of the Faith" that they were nothing more than "religious".
Using Apologetics he showed them the errors of their beliefs yet they would have none of it.
YHVH had used Paul as the instrument of HIS self to lead those listening in the power of The HOLY SPIRIT and they rejected it. In fact they really were rejecting YHVH.

Can they be tested, discussed and defended within the scope of the Full Gospel, the full scope of the Word of YHVH. Can you discover that you have lived in error or are only you and yours the defenders, the "Keepers of the Faith?"
