Are we ashamed of Jesus?

In Mark Chapter 8:36-38 it is talking about someone being ashamed of Jesus, and what will happen if they are ashamed of Jesus. It also goes on with the same thing in Luke 9:21-26

"36 What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? 37 Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? 38 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels."

"21 Jesus strictly warned them not to tell this to anyone, 22 And he said, 'The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.' 23 Then he said to them all: 'If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever want to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will save it. 25 What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self? 26 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.'"

Are we ashamed of Jesus? Are we hiding what He said, because we want what we want, and what we want is not what Jesus wants for us? I think these are some questions we need to constantly be asking ourselves, myself included.. We need to always make sure we are doing our best to line ourselves up with pure perfection, which is Christ. We need to be asking him to help us not be ashamed of him, ask him and he will help you, seek and he will show you, knock and he will open his door for you. Make sure you are asking for truth and that you do your best to accept the truth that God has given to us, whether it is in the form of one verse or several, always make sure we are hungering and thirsting after righteousness.

When I first started truly seeking God/Jesus I was ashamed of other people in traffic hearing me listening to Christian radio stations, here, to the point that I would turn it down when stopped next to others. The truth that you mention got through to me along with the one that says it's not humans that are our worry but the One with whom we must deal when we are done that we should concern ourselves with, I no longer cared whether others heard or not and Jesus is with me/us thanks be to Him. I will proclaim His worth to any who will listen but when given the choice of proclaim and die many may with their mouth deny but God knows our heart.

Good scripture Bendito. This scripture is not for the benefit of unbelievers, but for those seeking the Kingdom of Life. If Jesus will deny a believer before His Father, He is fulfilling what He said in Matthew 7. How can a person say a believer cannot lose their salvation? This is a warning to all Christian believers which may choose to "work" lawlessness. They will not obtain "eternal life" because of their works. If they are obedient the Commandments of Christ, they will be saved eternally; but if they do as the Pharisees and choose to reject the commandment of God; they will also be rejected because of their works.

Mark 7:9
And Jesus said unto them, Full well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your own tradition.

Matthew 7:23
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
