Some Bible students have interpreted as a possible reference to the modern-day automobile: "The chariots rage in the streets, they jostle one another in broad roads; they seem like torches, they run like lighting" (Nah 2:4). However, the verse properly indicates the ease and access that invading armies and their armaments had to a city during a predicted seige. The attackers took the city by surprise, and the defenders could not restrain them.
