An Opening For You

"They will come from the east and the west, from the north and the south, and sit down in the kingdom of God. Luke 13:29 NKJV

Chances are the vast majority of guys reading this devotional are Gentiles. Out of around eight billion people on earth, only some fifteen million are Jewish.

Jesus Himself first brought the good news of salvation to the Jews—and then to the Gentiles—so we Gentiles thank God for including us in His family—not through any physical descent but simply by faith in Christ.

Jesus Himself described the opening the Gentiles would enjoy. In Luke 13, the Lord is asked, “Are only a few people going to be saved?” (v.23). He responds by noting that many in Israel would assume, mistakenly, that their physical proximity and interactions with Him would guarantee their salvation (vv. 26-27). In contrast, faithful Jews of Old Testament times would enjoy eternity with God (v.28), as would both Jews and Gentiles—people from “east and west and north and south” (v.29)—who made “every effort to enter through the narrow door” (v.24).

An opening is available to you. Have you made every effort to go through it?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I thank You for making salvation available to everyone. Please confirm my place in Your kingdom and draw many others—Jew and Gentile alike—to Yourself.
