Alone With God

And Jesus went up on the mountain, and there He sat with His disciples. --John 6:3

Just prior to this miraculous multiplying of the bread and fish, Jesus "went up on a mountainside and sat down with his disciples"(6:3). That fact is noteworthy. It seems plain that Jesus withdrew purposely from the great press of people who had been pursuing Him.

There are some things that you and I will never learn when others are present. I believe in church and I love the fellowship of the assembly. There is much we can learn when we come together on Sundays and sit among the saints. But there are certain things that you and I will never learn in the presence of other people.

Unquestionably, part of our failure today is religious activity that is not preceded by aloneness, by inactivity. I mean getting alone with God and waiting in silence and quietness until we are charged with God's Spirit. Then, when we act, our activity really amounts to something because we have been prepared by God for it....

Now, in the case of our Lord, the people came to Him, John reports, and He was ready for them. He had been quiet and silent. He had sat alone with His disciples and meditated. Looking upward, He waited until the whole hiatus of divine life moved down from the throne of God into His own soul. He was a violin tuned. He was a battery recharged. He was poised and prepared for the people when they came. Faith Beyond Reason, 130,133. "Lord, I'll spend a lot of time in the company of people today, but just now I come in quietness and silence to wait for You to fill me. Amen."

A big amen to that! How can we be poured out on others if we are empty?

Eph 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

Being filled is not a one time event any more than breathing is a one time event.

Be filled with the Spirit, not spirits.

Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
Eph 4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
Eph 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

This was a big lesson for me. Time with God, time in tongues (building up faith you have.) and Walking in love.

Well, the walking in love part is so important to keep the anointing on your life. The devil has a hard time getting to you with the anointing from the greater one inside you operating mightily all over you.

Hence, many antichrist have gone into the world or anti-anointing demonic spirits to get you into strife so that every evil work may abound.

God for the anointing sake hath forgiven us. It's his will we stay in that mighty power.

Jesus Is Lord.

Let the Lord God fill you when your alone with him so you can help others with his strength that need him so that they can call on him for filling!
My greatest support comes when I am alone with God.

Amen, that is when you truly do begin to know God and his heart. And that is when you truly begin to trust him.

When you wake up in the morning, and you spend even 10 minutes with the Lord, He will open windows of understanding of his love that you never knew.

It can be in the mornings, evenings, or even at night; just spending time with Him, you will grow closer to Him.

If you don't know what to say, read a chapter, it can be out of Psalms or chapters you wish too. Then ask the Lord "What are you saying to me through your Word, I am listening.

Very good article Chad, and I know that most Christians will give an amen to it especially since A.W. Tozer said it, but how many will actually get alone with God other than between their religious liturgical meetings is probably a much smaller number.
