Repent: change your mind and the way you think; turn from the destruction in your life and turn to God who loves you for the forgiveness and salvation; for grace and mercy.Acts 2.38
is this the plan of salvation today ?
Thoughts?
Amen , I agree. But thats not what Acts 2.38 says . We clearly do not recieve the Holy Spirit and remission of sins AFTER water baptism .Repent: change your mind and the way you think; turn from the destruction in your life and turn to God who loves you for the forgiveness and salvation; for grace and mercy.
Believe: put your faith trust and rest in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Baptized: born again from above by the power of God the Holy Spirit; regenerated.
A man who surrenders to the Lord, calls out HIS name and confesses HIM as Lord and believes in his heart that God raised HIM from the dead, whether on the battlefield, in a prison cell, in a desert clime, on his death bed, etc., unable to be immersed in water, he is reborn by the power of the Holy Spirit and made new, regenerated, made a child of the living God, an heir to HIS heavenly kingdom. "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9.
S'not what I wrote. To be clear, we are regenerated not by any works on our part (water baptism included), but only by the indwelling Holy Spirit. Our sins are remitted by and through our faith in, and our following of, the Lord Jesus Christ.Amen , I agree. But thats not what Acts 2.38 says . YES it is and from the day of Pentecost remains true.Acts 2.38
is this the plan of salvation today ?

What, receiving the Holy Spirit After water baptism?YES it is and from the day of Pentecost remains true.
Still happening today regardless of the rest of Christianity's unbelief.
Ok, but do you agree that Acts 2.38 Says otherwise?S'not what I wrote. To be clear, we are regenerated not by any works on our part (water baptism included), but only by the indwelling Holy Spirit. Our sins are remitted by and through our faith in, and our following of, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Acts 2.38

When possible,Acts 2.38
is this the plan of salvation today ?

Peter first says "repent." When the Holy Spirit convicts a person, they repent, that is to say: they have changed their mind, their thoughts, and they've turned to God in faith (that is the act of repentance). Repentance naturally means you now believe differently, that is to say: you have changed your mind and you now put your faith trust and rest in the Lord Jesus Christ.Ok, but do you agree that Acts 2.38 Says otherwise?
Ok let's break it down. When possible,
Peter first says "repent." When the Holy Spirit convicts a person, they repent, that is to say: they have changed their mind, their thoughts, and they've turned to God in faith (that is the act of repentance). Repentance naturally means you now believe differently, that is to say: you have changed your mind and you now put your faith trust and rest in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Peter then says "be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins;" Here Peter is not saying unless you are baptised your sins will not be forgiven. Rather, Peter is saying because you've been forgiven, because of your repentance and faith, because you have been regenerated, therefore be baptised as an outward physical sign of your inward spiritual regeneration.
What caused any of you to repent and believe? The Holy Spirit. What caused any of you to be baptized? The conviction of the Holy Spirit that comes via regeneration. As Jesus made clear in John 3:8 "The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
//// Peter is saying because you've been forgiven, because of your repentance and faith, because you have been regenerated, therefore be baptised as an outward physical sign of your inward spiritual regeneration.//// Where are you getting this from ? It doesn't say any of that ? Look again .When possible,

Have you experienced it??Do you see it ?
They were "pricked in their hearts." Pricked from what or from whom? Joel? David? Peter? The Word of God? The Holy Spirit convicting them? What was happening to them was as Jesus said of the Spirit in John 3:8Ok let's break it down.
37¶Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38¶Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
What specifically did they hear and why and what did THEY (Jews) need to repent of ? Remember THEY ask what must we DO .
Go to Matthew 3:11: what did John say regarding baptism? People were not getting baptized by John in order to get repentance. They were being baptized because they had repented. Same goes for Acts 2:38: the Jews that were regenerated were not being told to get baptized to be born again. They were to be baptized because they were already born again via the Holy Spirit and repentance and faith.//// Peter is saying because you've been forgiven, because of your repentance and faith, because you have been regenerated, therefore be baptised as an outward physical sign of your inward spiritual regeneration.//// Where are you getting this from ? Does it say any of what you Just said? No . So why are you adding to what it actually says ?
It says what it means and means what it says .look again .
Adding nothing to it , what does it say ? it says ...
Do you see it ?
Yes, of course I see it. Do you see it? The Greek word for "for the" is eis. In the context of Acts 2:38, eis means "because of." The Jews were pricked in their heart, and therefore were being regenerated by the Holy Spirit. Baptisn was therefore not imperative for receiving salvation, but because of salvation already received.//// Peter is saying because you've been forgiven, because of your repentance and faith, because you have been regenerated, therefore be baptised as an outward physical sign of your inward spiritual regeneration.//// Where are you getting this from ? It doesn't say any of that ? Look again .

Do you see it ?
Obviously they needed to repent, of crucifying their messiah. This is what Peter just spent his long speech telling them about ..Who Jesus was . But he told them they needed to be water baptised to recieve the Holy Spirit . This is not the plan for salvation today. This WAS what WAS commanded for Israel. This is a transitional book .They were "pricked in their hearts." Pricked from what or from whom? Joel? David? Peter? The Word of God? The Holy Spirit convicting them? What was happening to them was as Jesus said of the Spirit in John 3:8
Why were the Jews from all over in Jerusalem? Pentacost. Why must any repent? Do all ways lead to heaven? No. Just one: Jesus. For the Jews then, as it is to this day, the Jews way was what what they needed to repent.
How were they born again before receiving the Holy Spirit ?Go to Matthew 3:11: what did John say regarding baptism? People were not getting baptized by John in order to get repentance. They were being baptized because they had repented. Same goes for Acts 2:38: the Jews that were regenerated were not being told to get baptized to be born again. They were to be baptized because they were already born again via the Holy Spirit and repentance and faith.
Matthew is before the Holy Spirit is given. ( Acts 2 is when its given ) Regeneration begins then not before ) .Go to Matthew 3:11: what did John say regarding baptism? People were not getting baptized by John in order to get repentance. They were being baptized because they had repented. Same goes for Acts 2:38: the Jews that were regenerated were not being told to get baptized to be born again. They were to be baptized because they were already born again via the Holy Spirit and repentance and faith.
Yes I know this is the post hoc rationalization the 'scholars 'have said . But its Just not what it SAYS.Yes, of course I see it. Do you see it? The Greek word for "for the" is eis.
