This is what the LORD says: "Don't let the wise boast in their wisdom, or the powerful boast in their power, or the rich boast in their riches. But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the LORD who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things. Christopher Columbus is known for a lot of things, but exploring just one of his passions would be a good way to celebrate this day. Columbus is known for searching for a quicker way to reach the world with the message of the Gospel. His voyage was designed, in part, to see if this new route would make that possible.
What you can take away on this holiday is that your most impressive wisdom, power, and riches offer no reason to boast. The only thing you can really boast about is being friends with the God whose love brings justice and righteousness into the world. This is true no matter the year of discovery.
Transformation changes motive, resets thinking, and reboots your actions. It all begins with obedience—agreeing to do the next thing God asks.
Prayer: Dear God, I want Your great adventure for me. I want to follow You because Your plan is better than mine. I want others to hear me boast, “It’s all You, God!”
