Hi, I am a 19 year old college student at a public university and the closer I get to my degree the further I feel I get from God. I haven't be able to discuss this with anyone at my home church and I just put on a smile and push through. But in all honesty I am hurting. I have been hurt by many people within my church and I know that God is not apart of that hurt. I found Talk Jesus by searching for scripture that will encourage me on finding my wife. I feel that is one of my biggest wants..... I am ready to find my wife and be happy. I had this idea that as soon as I got to college God would throw her in my lap and all would be well. In actuality I lost my self searching for her and everything I wasn't and in the process I lost the sight of my father. I am here to grow in my spiritual walk and to feel the support system of God in this time of tribulation for me.

@pwhite :
We all get to that point. I want to point out a few things for your encouragement.

1. You are looking for a wife, but attending a public university. This passage just shows what you should be looking for in a wife. Just understand that trying to find a wife while in the midst of darkness will be harder than if you were attending a Christian school. Look for the light, if she shines even in a public school, then she is someone you may find to be yoked with. I feel it is important that you are a light as well. You must make sure you shine and are not compromised, so that when she is also looking for a husband you can be seen.

[h=3]2 Corinthians 6:14-18[/h]King James Version (KJV)

14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

2. You mention being hurt by those in the Church. I don't know your story or the complete source of your pain, but some passages come to mind that I have been reading and I think they will be beneficial for you.
[h=3]1 Timothy 4[/h]King James Version (KJV)

12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

[h=3]Colossians 2[/h]King James Version (KJV)

16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

I recommend you read all of Collosians chapter 2, in it are a lot of things beneficial to one who needs to feel comfort in being God's child.

Continue forward, search God out and search out His will through prayer and reading His word and also be sure to be around those male and females who are more of your mindset.
I will be praying for you.

You are young and you all ready belong to Christ. He is very pleased with you as your motives are pure, but nobody is perfect, And I think you might feel more spirtuall connected if you just own it! And those people who are your enemies? Show kindness to them and and the Lord will prepare a banquet for you in their presence. He will!

Welcome to the site, brother!

I actually want to first say welcome. You've walked into a very wonderful community that will support you every step of the way and stand as a family when you need them most.

I honestly know what you're going through, because I've been there and still struggle with it from time to time. The entire time I was in undergrad, I just wanted to find my wife. It lead to disappointment in various ways, expanding from me settling for someone and God basically having to knock me upside the head to tell me it just wasn't right. I didn't have a church home, so I had no support system. I just sulked in my own misery until it became unhealthy. My thoughts ranged from "I'm getting old, I'll never find someone" to "Maybe I'm destined to be alone." Needless to say, my thoughts weren't good. I just wasn't in a good place man, so I understand how you feel but know John 16:33 "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

God is only a word away, if you ever need an ear, don't hesitate to hit me up!

I'm praying for you though, welcome to the site :shade:
