@pwhite :
We all get to that point. I want to point out a few things for your encouragement.
1. You are looking for a wife, but attending a public university. This passage just shows what you should be looking for in a wife. Just understand that trying to find a wife while in the midst of darkness will be harder than if you were attending a Christian school. Look for the light, if she shines even in a public school, then she is someone you may find to be yoked with. I feel it is important that you are a light as well. You must make sure you shine and are not compromised, so that when she is also looking for a husband you can be seen.
[h=3]2 Corinthians 6:14-18[/h]King James Version (KJV)
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
2. You mention being hurt by those in the Church. I don't know your story or the complete source of your pain, but some passages come to mind that I have been reading and I think they will be beneficial for you.
[h=3]1 Timothy 4[/h]King James Version (KJV)
12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
[h=3]Colossians 2[/h]King James Version (KJV)
16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
I recommend you read all of Collosians chapter 2, in it are a lot of things beneficial to one who needs to feel comfort in being God's child.
Continue forward, search God out and search out His will through prayer and reading His word and also be sure to be around those male and females who are more of your mindset.
I will be praying for you.
