For how can I endure to see the evil that shall come upon my people? Or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred? Ester 8:6 AMPC
Queen Ester’s unscheduled visit to the king made him aware of the injustice of Haman. It revealed a plot to wipe out an entire people group. It opened a dialogue that seemed to bring the royal couple closer. There was a second unscheduled visit, and the king wanted to hear what Ester had to say.
The law couldn’t be altered, but the king wrote a new law allowing the Jews to defend themselves when the unfair law took effect.
Because Queen Ester couldn’t endure the loss of her people, she endured the unknown by being bold enough to seek justice from the king. She couldn’t endure evil coming to her people without a challenge. God gave her the courage to bridge the gap between lawlessness and His answer.
Have you ever determined that it was impossible to endure evil and destruction among people you know—including your own family? Have you sought justice for the oppressed? Have you used prayer to ask God to help the defenseless? Have you ever been righteously angry on behalf of those who are hurt without cause?
Prayer: Father, You answer prayers that have actually been prayed. Help me stand up for others who hurt. Help me see others as more than a cause. They are made in Your image—and they need Your help.
