A Perspective On Justification

When it comes to perspectives of different things in the Bible, opinions abound!
Based on studying the Bible, I have come to a simple perspective on Justification:
  • Its an act of God and it occurs simultaneously with salvation.
  • Though it happens spiritually, an earthly (physical) explanation is , we are justified as if we never sinned.
2 Corinthians 5:21 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Romans 3: 21-26 But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: fall have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. 26 It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifies of the one who has faith in Jesus.
Romans 5: 18-19 Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. 19 For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.
Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Simply put, to justify is to declare righteous, to make one right with God. Justification is God’s declaring those who receive Christ to be righteous, based on Christ’s righteousness being imputed to the accounts of those who receive Christ. We are not righteous but the one in us is!
