Joshua 4:3
And command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging place, where ye shall lodge this night
Joshua 4:7
Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.

A memorial is Serving as a remembrance of someone or something; commemorative which can be done by related objects or written documents God has done so much for you.have you written them down or are you careful enough to keep those tangible things that he has given to you.why do you need to have memorials ?They perform the fuction of printing a particular event in our minds.The sight of the memorial reawakens our minds on the faithfulness of God towards us in the time past.memorials can also be used to tell others of the history of our lifes how God lift us from grass to grace.God told the isrealites to keep the stones as an historical reference for their children to testify of the miraculous power of God in parting river jordan.Memorials further strenthens our faith in God when the enemy comes with his lies.we can confidently show him what God has done and tell him that God is able to do more.
