Remember the old saying “Let your conscience be your guide”? That’s actually good advice for a Christian man. Your conscience, when it’s in tune with the Lord, can keep you out of trouble and can alert you to sin you need to confess.
King David made a huge mistake when he ordered one of his servants to take a count of all the people of Israel—an act the Law of Moses prohibited. David later realized he had sinned against God, and he confessed his wrongdoing. Still, the people of Israel suffered greatly because of their leader’s sin.
Living unshakably requires that you keep your conscience clean and sensitive to what God is saying to you through the written Word and through the Holy Spirit. So listen to God and always go to Him immediately when your conscience tells you that it’s time to make things right with your Heavenly Father.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for giving me a conscience so that I can know when I’m veering off the life course You have for me. When my conscience bothers me, help me to come to You immediately so You can forgive me and get me back on track.
