6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

v6 God is very powerful and strong to help you. So, be his servants, and let him rule you. Then he will cause you to be great and important at the right time. v7 Tell God about all the things that make you sad or afraid or angry. Give your thoughts about those things to him and let them remain with him. Do this, because you matter to him.

6 We need to act in humility and be humble because evenChrist humbled Himself for us. We are to work for God as His followers. Thereis no one greater or mightier than God. When need to be humbled but in time Hewill exalt us to Him. He became humbled when He came to us but, now He isexalted, we who follow Him will be as well. We will not be exalted here onearth where things pass away but will be exalted in heaven where nothing shouldpass away.

7 We should cast all our troubles to Him because He can takecare of all things and does. He cares for us and wants us to ask Him for thingsand go to Him with our troubles. He is a caring God and loved us so much thatJesus died for us.

Hi clark thomphson, the NASB renders 1 Peter 5:6, 7, as "6-Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, 7-casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you." When dealing with problems in life, verse 6 highlights two important points we all need to remember. Peter starts of by stating we must remain humble and then we must be patient.

When we are humble we will acknowledge God's thoughts are vastly superior to our own. (Isaiah 55:8, 9) Thus humility involves being obedient to God and His standards, whether his standards are convenient for us or not. People who lack humility will do their own thing or what seems best in their own eyes, rather than humbly yield to God's standards. A lack of humility could cause us to think we know better, and because of our presumptuousness make certain choices and decisions that have harmful consequences. Then we might blame God for the consequences rather than looking at our own lack of humility as the cause.

Then, secondly, Peter mentioned that God will exalt us at the proper time. Basically, Peter is talking about patients, a willingness to wait on God, which interestingly requires humility. Sometimes a problem can persist for a long time, and that can cause increasing amounts of anxiety. God has his own time table, and he often seems to be delaying, but he will never fail his faithful servants. He often seems to act in the nick of time, but only if we are patient enough to wait on him.

Once we understand the need for humility and patience, we can confidently cast our concerns to God who does care for us, knowing that we must humbly abide by God's standards and patiently wait for him to act.
