4 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

v1 Christ had trouble and pain while he lived in his body. So, you should think like he thought. You should be ready to have trouble and pain while you live in your bodies too. If you think like that, you will make yourselves strong. Anyone who has had trouble and pain in his body has stopped wanting to do wrong things.

As a result, that person will obey God during all the time that he continues to live in his body. He will not want to do the bad things that people often want to do. He will not let those bad things rule him. Instead, that person will do what God wants him to do.

1 Christ suffered, we will suffer as well. Christ gave Hislife for us so we should be willing to give our life back to Him because Hepaid for it with His life. Our suffering will not be in vain just as His wasnot in vain but for salvation. Our sufferings are a result of sin and thefallen condition of man for this reason Christ suffered as well.

2 Our lives as believers are for Him because He gave Hislife so we can follow His will. We are not to live for any other reason than tofulfill His will in our lives by following Him. There was a time we soughtafter the flesh but not we seek after God. We are no longer to live in the sameway we did before we came to Christ but live by Him in a new way, a Godly way.
