Some would say that God does just to show us how we fail to even live up to our own standards. I would disagree. There is IMO only one standard to be judged by.... God's never changing standard.... even if we think that some of those are not good moral standards (like how God told Israel to kill EVERYBODY in certain cities, and how some would say that the children deserved to live)

I used to worry about people who didn't, or do not know they have a choice.

But human intellect cannot fully probe why God chooses or forgives whom He wills. None of us have a say-so in it.

I'll even use a.i. to check on this. Stop laughing.

Genesis 4:4–5 (The Sovereignty of Favor): God looks with favor upon Abel and his offering, but not upon Cain. The Hebrew text uses וַיִּשַׁע (wayyǐšša‘ — "and He looked with favor/accepted"), demonstrating a primal choice of Divine pleasure untethered to an explicit legal framework.
Genesis 50:19–21 (The Human Echo of Divine Pardon): Joseph, acting as a type of divine governor, comforts his brothers who fear retribution for their past treachery. He declares: הֲתַחַת אֱלֹהִים אָנִי (hătáḥaṯ ’Ĕlōhîm ’ānî — "Am I in the place of God?"). He acknowledges that true forgiveness and the turning of evil into good belong strictly to the sovereign counsel of God, who wills preservation and life over deserved judgment.

I also think of Jonah versus Nineveh. His opinion? Everyone in Nineveh? Did anyone have any say in The LORD's decision concerning each soul involved? At least Jonah got some time to think about YHWH's future Atoning sacrifice.

Saint Matthew chapter 18:
32 Then his Lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst Me:

33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
