Ya there is a lot of that going on.

I met a minister in Vero Beach Florida one time that came across that way as someone who was taking the money for himself and living very luxuriously while the flock was barely making ends meet. However the church had a young lady who had a unique gift of Prophecy, it would be almost like everyone going to her to receive their Fortune to be told to them. And the minister was cashing in on this fortune teller.

I would offer a misunderstanding of words is crucial when interpreting searching for the gospel understanding

Like prophecy clearly misunderstood. Some make it into some sort of special gift. as if it came from the feet of the messenger and not accredited a heavenly inspired message.

Prophecy "simply to declare the will of another". An apostle (sent messenger) sent on a mission from my wife with a message for the supermarket.

God is still sending them out two by two. many on this message board.

The loving commandment remains "do not add or subtract from the book of prophecy"

Why join forces of Satan the king of lying sings to wonder, wonder, wonder in limbo as if true prophcy .

No need to wonder believers have sola scriptura

That is always sad when we hear such stories. We indeed must be vigilant during these times.
As I mentioned to the guest that in our days it seems like pastors are so popular.

I think if there was less fame and influence surrounding the calling, you would have less false prophets rushing
to the position. But with human nature things that bring money, power, influence (access to women, etc, ) are often
sought after by men of this world.

I would offer .

The living word of God lovingly commands the believer to study rightly dividing the word .The prescribed way to seek his invisible approval of our daily bread .

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

In that way he has not left the believer without instructions how to study and seek the unseen gospel understanding hid form those not moved by the living abiding word .

Not sure why but there are a few words left in the original that are hazy, faint, fuzzy, obscure, or indefinite like the words, sabbath, prophet or apostle or Hebrew equivalent Malach . meaning messenger as in how beautiful are the feet of those who bring the prophecy of Christ .

For some reason the word "apostle" was changed to mean "angel" from the Greek "anggelos".

Angel a fake word not coined until the 10 th century used in what some call the doctrine of patron saints, oral tradition of dying mankind .

In Greek, "prophecy" is propheteaia It encompasses all divine inspiration, declaring God's purposes, revealing hidden things,(parables) and foretelling future events. The concept of prophecy in Greek mythology and religion is complex, with figures like Apollo to represent the counterfeit government. Many gods male and female in the likeness of dying mankind

Many believers from my experience misunderstand and violate the word prophecy to represent the future alone. And apostle "sent messenger" to represent false. . . divine inspiration coming of the beautiful feet of the messenger and not the message they bring prophecy sola scriptura.

Danger in representing the future alone seeing God is no longer adding and the father of lies the king of lying signs to wonder, wonder, wonder after as if true prophecy. working overtime today I had a dream, I saw him in the dessert I heard a living word, I drank his literal blood and and ate his literal flesh ..

Many reject the spiritual understanding of the parable the signified prophecy . The invisible God that hides . . .is still hiding .
