We've all heard most of these verses and passages of scripture before.
The funny thing here on TalkJesus is.. whoever disagrees with our point of view is a false teacher with a false doctrine.
After all... we can't all be right.. On the other hand... we can't all be wrong.

Jer 14:14 Then the LORD said to me, "The prophets are prophesying falsehood in My name. I have neither sent them nor commanded them nor spoken to them; they are prophesying to you a false vision, divination, futility and the deception of their own minds.
Lam 2:14 Your prophets have seen for you False and foolish visions; And they have not exposed your iniquity So as to restore you from captivity, But they have seen for you false and misleading oracles.
Ezek 13:9 "So My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will have no place in the council of My people, nor will they be written down in the register of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel, that you may know that I am the Lord GOD.
Ezek 22:28 "Her prophets have smeared whitewash for them, seeing false visions and divining lies for them, saying, 'Thus says the Lord GOD,' when the LORD has not spoken.

This really is nothing new. It's been going on since Old Testament times.

Matt 7:15 "Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
Matt 24:11 "Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many.
Matt 24:24 "For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.
Mark 13:22 for false Christs and false prophets will arise, and will show signs and wonders, in order to lead astray, if possible, the elect.
Luke 6:26 "Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for their fathers used to treat the false prophets in the same way.
2Pet 2:1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.
1Jn 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Not just a few.. but "many" false prophets will arise.

2Tim 4:1 I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom:
2Tim 4:2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.
2Tim 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,
2Tim 4:4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.

"the time will come"... I'm pretty sure that time is already here and has been here a while. Some entire denominations support homosexuality and trans-gender idealogy.

Acts 20:28 "Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.
Acts 20:29 "I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock;
Acts 20:30 and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.
Acts 20:31 "Therefore be on the alert, remembering that night and day for a period of three years I did not cease to admonish each one with tears.

Jude 1:3 Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints.
Jude 1:4 For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Jude 1:5 Now I desire to remind you, though you know all things once for all, that the Lord, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, subsequently destroyed those who did not believe.

Even after God saved them... He destroyed them later. He saved them from slavery in Egypt, He saved them from the passover angel, He saved them through
the Red Sea, but ultimately some were destroyed for turning to false gods ( a golden calf )

1Tim 4:1 But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons,
1Tim 4:2 by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron,

I am well past half a century old. I was born in the 1950's. I don't think I can ever remember a time when so many doctrines of demons were ever so prevalent.

1Tim 4:16 Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you.

I find this a little amazing, but I shouldn't at least three of the churches here in Rev 2 allowed false teachings and false doctrines to enter their churches.

Rev 2:2 'I know your deeds and your toil and perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate evil men, and you put to the test those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and you found them to be false;

Rev 2:14 'But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit acts of immorality.
Rev 2:15 'So you also have some who in the same way hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans.
Rev 2:16 'Therefore repent; or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of My mouth.

Rev 2:20 'But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bond-servants astray so that they commit acts of immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.
Rev 2:21 'I gave her time to repent, and she does not want to repent of her immorality.
Rev 2:22 'Behold, I will throw her on a bed of sickness, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her deeds.
Rev 2:23 'And I will kill her children with pestilence, and all the churches will know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts; and I will give to each one of you according to your deeds.

It seems far too mant churches and far too many Christians are willing to compromise their beliefs. We allow far too many false doctrines.
.. and nobody seems to care anymore.
"Oh we're all brother is Christ", "There are no denominations, we're all one big happy family". - Hogwash.
The false prophets and false teachers are NOT my brothers in Christ. They may be yours, but they are NOT mine.

Tit 1:10 For there are many rebellious men, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision,
Tit 1:11 who must be silenced because they are upsetting whole families, teaching things they should not teach for the sake of sordid gain.

1Tim 1:6 For some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless discussion,
1Tim 1:7 wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions.

I don't believe it was ever God's intention for there to be multiple denominations... but the facts is... some things God doesn't want to exist in the church... do exist.

Sometimes this isn't due to malevolence, but even so...

Acts 18:24 Now a Jew named Apollos, an Alexandrian by birth, an eloquent man, came to Ephesus; and he was mighty in the Scriptures.
Acts 18:25 This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he was speaking and teaching accurately the things concerning Jesus, being acquainted only with the baptism of John;
Acts 18:26 and he began to speak out boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.

Apollos wasn't a bad man, he wasn't even a false teacher.. but there were some things he didn't know, and apparently he was willing to listen to those who did.

1Cor 3:4 For when one says, "I am of Paul," and another, "I am of Apollos," are you not mere men?
1Cor 3:5 What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, even as the Lord gave opportunity to each one.
1Cor 3:6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth.
1Cor 3:7 So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth.
1Cor 3:8 Now he who plants and he who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor.
1Cor 3:9 For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building.

So while Paul didn't want division and factions.. he did acknowledge they existed.

1Cor 3:22 whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or things present or things to come; all things belong to you,
1Cor 3:23 and you belong to Christ; and Christ belongs to God.

The encouraging thing about this passage is... that while we may not have all received the same exact teachings from the same person..
It's OK.. we belong to Christ.

But back to the original point... not all prophets, teachers, doctrines belong to Christ... and in the fact there are some false Christs in the world.

Deut 18:18 'I will raise up a prophet from among their countrymen like you, and I will put My words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him.
Deut 18:19 'It shall come about that whoever will not listen to My words which he shall speak in My name, I Myself will require it of him.
Deut 18:20 'But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in My name which I have not commanded him to speak, or which he speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.'
Deut 18:21 "You may say in your heart, 'How will we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?'
Deut 18:22 "When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.

It seems over the last 20 years, there have been a number of "prophets" prophesying so and so would be elected, or so and so would die.
..and yet none of happened.. at least not the way they said it would.. when they said it would.

Deut 13:1 "If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder,
Deut 13:2 and the sign or the wonder comes true, concerning which he spoke to you, saying, 'Let us go after other gods (whom you have not known) and let us serve them,'
Deut 13:3 you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams; for the LORD your God is testing you to find out if you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
Deut 13:4 "You shall follow the LORD your God and fear Him; and you shall keep His commandments, listen to His voice, serve Him, and cling to Him.
Deut 13:5 "But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has counseled rebellion against the LORD your God who brought you from the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery, to seduce you from the way in which the LORD your God commanded you to walk. So you shall purge the evil from among you.

Even if a prophet does do a wonder or sign.. and even if it comes true.. but it doesn't align with the Word of God.. in the old Testament they were to be put to death.

Deut 13:6 "If your brother, your mother's son, or your son or daughter, or the wife you cherish, or your friend who is as your own soul, entice you secretly, saying, 'Let us go and serve other gods' (whom neither you nor your fathers have known,
Deut 13:7 of the gods of the peoples who are around you, near you or far from you, from one end of the earth to the other end),
Deut 13:8 you shall not yield to him or listen to him; and your eye shall not pity him, nor shall you spare or conceal him.
Deut 13:9 "But you shall surely kill him; your hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.

There are a lot of gods.. and even a lot of Jesus's in the world. The Jesus that isn't God. The Jesus that was once a man who became a god.
The Jesus who is the son of Joachim and Anne. The Jesus who had sex with Mary Magdelene. It seems there is even a gay Jesus now.
Again.. in the old testament anyone who tries to lead you away from the true God... you were supposed to put them to death.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.

And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.

But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.

For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.

For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God's word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ".

He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
