Not lending money a sin?

hey- so i came across a part of the bible that mentioned we should lend money but i dont recall which it was, anyhow within a month ive had 2 people asking to lend money, one guy that just came out of prison (that i knew from prison) saying he needed money for food and bus - now, i just stopped lending money since long ago since it never goes well
the other guy struggles with drugaddiction
am i in the right, accordingly to the bible to not lend money when its unlikely the money will go to anything productive?

Hmm. We are told to give away everything.

But I think the point is not to charge interest.

Giving for food and bus should be correct if that helps the guy move his life on.
Giving for drugs is a definite no-no.

Then again suppose we drop dead after turning a request down - what good is our money in the grave?

yea, its not so much the money is more so the headache i would be having over trying to get my money back, and theres so many of them that wants to lend money, but so few of us christians
if a christian came to me and asked for money i would lend, maybe my struggle is just that i know these people dont play with open cards and they only need to lend money because they did something stupid, like smoking 3 months salaries of crack-cocaine in 1 week after scamming insurance with faking their motorcycle stolen
and yes i keep distance with such people, but with all the digital, distance really doesnt exist anymore.
