Judgment on Wickedness

But as for me, I will always proclaim what God has done; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. For God says, "I will break the strength of the wicked, but I will increase the power of the godly." Psalm 75:9-10 NLT

Asaph, the writer of Psalm 75, recognized that the world around him was filled with defiant, wicked men whose hearts and minds were set on all sorts of wrongdoing.

If Asaph had lived today, he would certainly have made the same observations. But, unlike so many who feel discouraged at what they see going on around them, Asaph confidently proclaimed, “I will always proclaim what God has done; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.”

Asaph’s confidence was based in his realization that God was aware of the state of the world, and of humanity, and that He would one day judge all evil and lift up the godly.

Today’s scripture verses give you hope. It won’t be like this forever. One day, the Lord will break the power and strength of the wicked and lift up the righteous—those who believe in and follow Jesus.

Prayer: Father in heaven, sometimes I find myself feeling a deep sense of sadness and discouragement at all the sin, injustice, and violence going on in the world today. But I am heartened when I read Your promises to one day righteously judge the world, defeat evil, and set all things right.
