Is raiding watermelon patch a sin?

Active
I love watermelons, and in younger years would be jumping barbed wire fences ahead of a shotgun carrying them out.
For those who grade sins, what do you reckon the penalty for stealing watermelons would be?
I ask because it’s close to that time of year, and I have a craving.

Always go by the orange field spot. That says it’s been on the ground longest and is really ripe.
Thumping can be misleading. Nor can you go by how brown the stem. But the darker the orange spot the better.

Would watermelon be considered a vegetable,or,do berries and melons fall under a different category?
The way to tell a fruit from a vegetable,is that a fruit picked green will continue to ripen, while a vegetable stays green and rots.
Watermelons, strawberries etc. will not ripen after picking.
But apples,tomatoes,peaches etc. will

The bad news:
For the wages of sin is death....

The good news:
...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Well, if you raid the wrong watermelon patch, they might just shoot you dead! Most people are pissed off these days, anyway, now would not be the time to test your angels! Just a thought for you.

Are you so poor that you can't buy your own watermelon?

Lentz, I asked that because if you are hungry and poor, a Christian farmer will leave a portion of his field for the poor.

I appreciate your concern.
Just having a friendly conversation with Brother Bear. That is why I posted under Water Cooler.
Although they are sweeter after being raided at 3 in the morning.

I am reminded of fruit(s)

Not all that often you hear about , while we might bear fruit (etc), is the fruit ripe?

Something to chew over
