There are some things you mix up. It is as you say that God is with all humans: 4In Him was life, and that life was the light of men.
However God is not the flesh, God is the light within, God is within, in the Holy Temple of God within:
3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying: “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man, and He will dwell with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God.
The spirit of God, the Holy Spirit will lead us to seek Jesus, Who will lead us to our Father in heaven who is Good
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
The spirit of man however is not good. If a man turns his back to God and follow his own spirit, as if that spirit was good and not Gods Spirit, then he is on a way that does not lead to our Father in heaven.
God is good, but not everyone chooses Him.
God has not deemed it good to force people to choose him, to try to force people to love Him. That would be pathetic and cruel, stupid and evil.
So the choice is there to choose good, to choose God, that is when we arrive in heaven, He will choose those who chose Him, He knows our hearts, and knew all in advance.
Since there is time, the dimension of time on earth that further complicates things, we must continue to choose God over and over again as time passes, otherwise we will start walking in the opposite direction. On the other hand if we are not doing that, we never chose Him in the first place.
