But on the seventh day he shall shave all his hair off his head, his beard, his eyebrows, and his [body]; and he shall wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and be clean. Leviticus 14:9 AMPC

Stick any large group of people together in the wilderness where personal hygiene might be difficult to maintain, and you’ll likely encounter some skin diseases. The term leprosy in the Bible probably refers to a variety of skin diseases, many of which would have easily passed from person to person by skin contact. That’s why Hebrew law dealt with its treatment so thoroughly (check out Leviticus 13).

Today’s verse covers the final step of restoration after a person has been healed from a skin disease. Before being allowed to reenter society, the person must shave off all their hair, eyebrows included. In so doing, they’re showing the world they have no lingering marks of the disease hiding anywhere. They have nothing to hide.

The disease of sin is more virulent than any form of leprosy described in the Old Testament. Even after we’ve been born again by Christ’s blood, we are drawn toward sinful behavior. But each time we repent—each time we ask Jesus to help us shave the sinful growth in our lives and wash us again in His blood—we are made clean. We too have nothing to hide.

Prayer: Jesus, help me live with nothing to hide so others will see Your righteousness in me.

We are drawn toward sinful behaviours...

Perhaps that is why He tells us to forsake all...
Or,
Be separate from the world...
Or,
We can not serve God and mammon...

Be in Him, by Him, and for Him...as we tread through it.

All praise glory and honor be unto God.
