Amen Christ4Ever, its about Jesus Christ

You know, I have wondered if Peter's question to start building a tabernacle for each of them arises out of a picture of
Moses who was shown a particular pattern on the mount as well before he would start to make a tabernacle.

As is mentioned here.

Heb 8:5 Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he,
that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.

So this was shown Moses on a mount

And so here is Peter in Mat 17:1 called up on mount with the Lord and the two other disciples, and they have this vision of Moses and Elijah
(and they are they which testify of me) and these two appeared in glory and speak specifically of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem. as Jesus said after the fact to them " O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. So it shows Moses and Elijah speaking of his decease in this vision on the mount.

And Peter on this mount says,

Mat 17:4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles;
one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

We had Moses who pitched a tabernacle shown a pattern on a mount, now Peter on the mount seeing Moses and Elijah with Christ asking to make three tabernacles,
the Father tells them to hear his Son (Jesus Christ) and the vision ends with Jesus standing there alone

Peter being set straight in this way is as a picture of God here, who in the past has spoken by the prophets in sundry times and divers manners having now in these last days spoken unto us by His Son = Hear ye him.

And he is

Heb 8:2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man (including Peter) haha

The significance of that particlar part had escaped me, to get into Peters head and figure out where he was coming from

There seems to be a pattern between these two here as well

In Moses, on the mount, after six days, avoice out of the cloud

Exod 24:16 And the glory of The LORD dwelt on the mountain of Sinai. And the cloud covered it six days.
And He called to Moses on the seventh day from the midst of the cloud.

In Peter, on the mount, after six days, a voice out of the cloud

Mat 17:1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

Mat 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud,
which said, This is my beloved Son,in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

Moses on the mount shown a pattern to make a tabernacle, Peter on the mount asks to make 3 tabernacles, he gets corrected, and we are told
the minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, is that which the Lord pitched, and not man.

Its like you can sort of reason out of the scripture between them as to what was going on in Peters head or something. Its kind of sketchy for me but theres always scripture that gets you thinking, asking questions and comparing and even when you find tib bits you still have to wait on the Lord for the thing.

This is one of the rare moments when God Himself spoke to the disciples. They heard Jesus, the Son of God. They followed Him. But at that moment, they were sidetracked. God had allowed them to see Elijah and Moses, and they were star struck. They wanted to build monuments to the elder statesmen of the faith. This was a miracle, and they wanted to commemorate the unbelievable moment.

God was not disrespecting His two servants, but He did seem to find fault with the disciples’ thinking and actions. He shifted the spotlight back on His Son and basically said, “Pay attention to Him.”

Jesus was more important. He would change eternity. He could offer what Elijah, and Moses longed for. His life would be perpetually celebrated, and His name honored. Pay attention to Him.

He loved enough to rescue without protest. He cared enough to live the life of a human for you. He died willingly to pay the price for your sin. Pay attention to Him.

Prayer: Jesus, it’s easy to think of a Christian leader as someone important and honorable. They should be respected, but the message they shared isn’t about themselves, it’s about You. Help me pay attention to You.

Thank you, I like your conclusion.

Peter, James and John had a glimpse of the Son of man coming in the glory of His Father (Matthew 16:26-28): the Lord had yet to experience the full extent of the sufferings which he would have to endure, before that glory could be manifested, didn't He? He had already suffered the contradiction of sinners against Himself (Hebrews 12:3) He had been rejected as both Prophet (John 3:7), Priest and King (Psa. 2:7; Acts 13:33 & Hebrews 1:5; Hebrews 5:5). Here our Lord as the Messiah was being consecrated as Priest., the words, 'This is My Beloved Son,' being the Divine formula (v.5).

* Moses and Elijah representing those to be raised from the dead & 'caught up' without dying respectively. Peter James and John were with the Lord at the raising of Jairus' daughter too (Mark 5:37).

* Regarding the tabernacles (or booths) @2BeholdHisGlory: was it perhaps the time of the feast of tabernacles (see John 7:2), or does the coming of the Lord, which the disciples had just had a vision of, take place at the time of the feast of tabernacles? (Zechariah 14:16 & 18 Zechariah 12:10-14) Forgive me if I am way off in my thinking, please remember that they are just the thoughts of someone who still has much to learn.

Complete, I couldn't tell you much from where I sit. I just try to make sense of what appears between them. The two appear in a vision to the disciples and speaking of his decease

And we know it says Moses was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after. Just as Moses said,
The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken (speaking towards Christ).
So here they are beholding Moses and Elijah in a vision (even as God has spoken by the prophets multiplying the same by them) and Peter interjects himself in
whats happening, out of a cloud the voice of God is telling them that they need to hear his Son (confirming what God had already spoken to Moses) who again
was a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after (which would be God speaking by Christ). Moses and Elijah disappear from this vision after they hear this and just seems to me as the same being done away from the vision (whose conversation was on the death of Christ) and Jesus is now alone, or as the one remaining
(who also tells them not to tell no man the vision until after he is risen from the dead). That too seems reflective of the words " But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets. And in my mind when I see the picture of Moses and Elijah there I can't help but think
"the law and the prophets" (as these are they which testify of Christ). And now that Christ had come and his decease was yet to be accomplished they are
there in this vision shown speaking of just this. And so what pertains to this (as it relates to Moses and Elijah) is told them not to speak on it until after his ressurection. And so it
reminds me of this. And any building done by Moses speaking forward, of heavenly things, Peter (as a man) wouldn't the builder of any tabernacle, the Lord is. Beyond that I can't say, I can only see in part like everyone else. I am not even certain I am catching that correctly, but I change my mind when I am shown more myself.

Yes, the words of Luke 24:25-27, that you quote here is a cautionary word for all of us, I believe. For we, without realising it, can be equally, 'slow of heart to believe', all that God has revealed to us concerning the all-sufficiency of the work of Christ on our behalf. We pray for His provisioning, when we should be thanking Him in advance for His supply, in the knowledge that His strength is sufficient for us. The prayer should be that we will draw on His strength which is unlimited, and not trust in our own.

Peter, John and James, were being, themselves, spoken to by God in like manner as the Old Testament prophets:- in vision.

'And He (God) said, "Hear now My words:
If there be a prophet among you,
I the LORD will make Myself known unto him in a vision,
and will speak unto him in a dream.
My servant Moses is not so,
who is faithful in all Mine house.
With him will I speak mouth to mouth,
even apparently, and not in dark speeches;
and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold:
wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak
against My servant Moses?
(Num 12:6-8)
