To me God has to call, drag, draw each person to the Son, and give them the faith necessary to believe in the finished work of Jesus' cross. It is at this point that each new creature
is given the capacity to become a son of God, John 1:12 .

Now exactly when where and how each person becomes a son of God is also up to God as it is up to Him to scourge EVERY son whom He receives. I speak of the new spiritual
creature, not the flesh, and even Jesus partook of this as "He was perfected by the things that He suffered" Hebrews 5:8-9 Heb 12:6 .

Being a Christian truly is about becoming a son of the living God and Jesus paved the way, becoming the first to ever complete the journey from man to a God. Now if the Father has decided
to accept the sacrifice of His only begotten fleshly Son as a propitiation for ALL sin then that is His choice as it was also to condemn ALL men because of what Adam did. Rom 5:18

Matthew 20:1-16 is the example where the timing of the callings are parabolized, and the reward is the same to each no matter when they were called/hired. We have many today
that feel there reward should be greater than those who are not called yet for they have done so much, but in reality much of what they have done is dead works as they are
trying to save the world. True works are those ordained of the Father and given to you as a task to complete, not whatever YOU feel YOU should do for Him. Like you said seek the
will of God and leave it alone if He doesn't have something for you today. Then we won't have to repent of our own dead works.
