What Does Jesus Mean in John 9:4-5?

In context... what does Jesus mean in verses 4 & 5 or was He interjecting a prophesy about something else? Not sure how the latter end of verse 4 applies to Him.

John 9:3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,

7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

The other Bible versions does not help here.

I reckon in relations with verse 5, He is talking about His coming crucifixion for when He will no longer be in the world to manifest the works of God in doing all those miracles?

Other than His resurrection & His ascension. Can't recall if He did any miracles on other people after His resurrection. Maybe that is what is meant. I shall know for sure in Heaven.

He would no longer be in the world in the flesh doing miracles, but he still does miracles.

That scripture used to have me wondering in other ways than what you are thinking.
I used to think, why would Jesus need to get clay from the ground and spit in it and put it in the man's eyes, why not just touch his eyes, or just say you are healed and have sight? Jesus did that at other times, so why the clay and the spit at this time?
He was born blind, and now I see how the clay from which man is made might be how Jesus made him new eyes.

I also believe that Jesus was showing us that we can also have miracles from him through doctors...his spit signifying man, and the clay signifying things of this earth.

Another thing I used to think a lot about with this passage is how some people have more problems in this world when it comes to being born with afflictions. Some people look at another as if they are lesser because they have a child with a disability.

Very interesting passage, as all of God's Word!

After Jesus and the Apostles laid the foundation and the prophecies, new knowledge and tongues ceased, there are no more miracles as was by Jesus and the apostles walked the earth. Jesus of course can do anything, but people being born blind aren't being given sight, and those born paralyzed are miraculously able to walk, and those dead for four days aren't being raised.

I apply His words referring to Jesus doing God's work while He was in the world as the light of the world before He was to be crucified.

His resurrection & His ascension would place Him out of this world where Jesus lays the foundation and the seal of adoption as promised by the Father in each and every believer whereas as the chief cornerstone and the apostles being added to that foundation of the church, is a different foundation being applied in His words.

Now I do not believe the gifts of the Spirit has ceased since we are still discerning spirits as well as prophesying ( edification through His written words that He brings into remembrance for us citing them ) but because God is not vain and the point of the gifts is to edify the whole body of believers .. is why tongues will not be manifested when we have the written scripture and we all speak the same language, unlike the early days of the assembly of the church.

Elders are to come forward in laying of hands for healing, a gift also from the Lord.

But it seems nowadays there is little faith in Jesus Christ for that while in these latter days, believers are going astray looking for manifestations of the Holy Spirit to be felt in the worship place for these miracles to take place even for when sinners claimed for when they got saved. One member have testified to going forward in seeking proof salvation while another testified to experiencing the joy of the "Holy Ghost" before inviting Jesus Christ into his heart.

Matthew 12:
39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Yes, it is possible that some may be speaking in tongues for private use in churches that are not believers in Jesus Christ. This is what happens when they put the focus on the Holy Spirit rather than be led by the Spirit of Christ in them to put the focus on the Son in worship, prayer, and fellowship to avoid the spirits of the antichrist as well as avoiding the iniquity of committing spiritual fornication/adultery..

That isn't new prophecies. Prophecies ceased. We can't add anything to the Bible, we can only speak about what is written.

I've already shared videos like that on this site. Did you see them? I can post them again if you haven't.

That isn't new prophecies. Prophecies ceased. We can't add anything to the Bible, we can only speak about what is written.
But still, does not the Holy Spirit in you bring into remembrance scripture you are to share with others? That is called the gift of prophesy which is not furure telling but edifying one another.

I cannot recall. Probably not. No need to share the video though. Thanks anyway.

Prophecies ceased, at the same time tongues and new knowledge ceased.
Repeating what is already written and teaching about it is not prophecies.

I had a friend that started going to a church in northern California where they do that stuff, and it is sad that people think it is okay as long as it makes you feel good.
