There has been a number of threads here over the years about the book of Enoch. So this thread isn't about that.
It's about Enoch himself.
The Bible doesn't really say a lot about Enoch. There are just a handful of verses.
We know Jared was the father of Enoch.
Gen 5:18; Jared lived one hundred and sixty-two years, and became the father of Enoch.
Enoch was 65 years old when he became the father of Methuselah.
Gen 5:21; Enoch lived sixty-five years, and became the father of Methuselah.
These days not many men have sons at age 65. But it's this next verse that caught my eye.
Gen 5:22; Then Enoch walked with God three hundred years after he became the father of Methuselah, and he had other sons and daughters.
Enoch "walked with God"... "after"... for 300 years. Now of course not many people live to be 365 years old these days.
Gen 5:23; So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years.
I myself am in my 60's now. I guess I can relate to this verse somewhat. For many of us... age 65 is when we start thinking about retirement.
But for Enoch, it seems he was just getting started. It's interesting the Bible doesn't say that Enoch walked with God before Methuselah was born.
But it says he walked with God for 300 years "after" Methuselah was born. Methusaleh is of course the oldest man in the Bible. 969 years old!!
It seems it's never to late to start "walking with God". Even if you're in your 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's or beyond. It seems many people in the Bible
did their work for God in the later parts of their life. We think about setting down and retiring, but God knows you still have a lot of potential.

There it is again... Enoch "walked with God". Are you walking with God? Enoch is one of the three people in the Bible who ascended up to heaven.
Because, God "took him".
Enoch is mentioned again breifly in Luke 3:37; but it only mentions him lineage here. But if we jump to Hebrews...
Heb 11:5; By faith Enoch was taken up so that he would not see death; AND HE WAS NOT FOUND BECAUSE GOD TOOK HIM UP; for he obtained the witness that before his being taken up he was pleasing to God.
Heb 11:6; And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.
There are a few people who were not Hebrews (Jews) mentioned in the Book of Hebrews, Enoch is one of them. Israel as a nation didn't exist yet when Enoch on the Earth.
Enoch didn't die a natural death. Elijah was another one who was taken up (in a chariot of fire, whirlwind) who did not die a natural death. Why did God take him?
Because "he was pleasing to God". The King James says in Hebrews 11:5 "he pleased God". I wonder,... is there a better epitath we could have written on our tombstones?
Are you pleasing God? Are you walking with God? Back in Genesis, it says he walked with God, but it doesn't say he pleased God. We find that out much later in the New Testament.
Hebrews 11 is of course the "faith chapter" of the Bible. The hero's of the faith are listed here, and Enoch is one of these people.
The very next verse after verse 5 is a well known verse, but often not taken in the context of verse 5. Verse 6 is really tied to verse 5.
Of course we have to have faith, and of course we must believe in God, but sometimes... we need to seek God. God rewards us for that. This is what pleases God.
