God Does Not Speak To Us Directly

Jhn 5:37
"And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form.
Heb 1:1
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,
Heb 1:2
has in these last days spoken to us by [His] Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;
Heb 1:3
who being the brightness of [His] glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
Heb 1:4
having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
1Co 4:6
Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively transferred to myself and Apollos for your sakes, that you may learn in us not to think beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up on behalf of one against the other.

Jhn 12:48
"He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him--the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.
Jhn 12:49
"For I have not spoken on My own [authority]; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.
Jhn 12:50
"And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak."

xxx God does not speak to us directly sense Jesus came. Jesus speaks to us directly but God doesnt. God tells Jesus and Jesus tells us.

God made Jesus Lord and sent Him to represent the righteousness of God with the new testament. God speaks to Jesus and Jesus speaks to us. God honors all that the new testament says in Jesus name.

'God, Who at sundry times and in divers manners
spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son,
Whom He hath appointed heir of all things,
by Whom also He made the worlds;
Who being the brightness of His glory,
and the express image of His person,
and upholding all things by the Word of His power,
when He had by Himself purged our sins,
sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
(Hebrews 1:1-3)

Praise God!

Well what about The Devil? Do he speak to us directly? And can he speak in Tongues?

' Blessed is the man that endureth temptation:
for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life,
which the Lord hath promised to them that love Him.
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God:
for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth He any man:
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin:
and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Do not err, my beloved brethren.'
(Jas 1:12-16)

Hello @PloughBoy,

No, I don't believe the Devil does speak to us, directly. Although he did speak to Eve. Do the Scriptures reveal him directly communicating with any other?

Thank you

Well why is he here Since he can not speak to no one. And he is not a creator. Then if so his presence is useless here.

Rev 2:13
13 "I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan's throne is. And you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.
14 "But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality.
1 Tim 5:15
15 For some have already turned aside after Satan.
1 Tim 1:20

1Thes 5:14-18
14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all.
15 See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.
16 Rejoice always,
17 pray without ceasing,
18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

1 Pet 5:8-9
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.
Rom 3:5-6
5 But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unjust who inflicts wrath? (I speak as a man.)
6 Certainly not! For then how will God judge the world?
Gal 5:15
15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!
Luke 17:1-3
1 Then He said to the disciples, "It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come!
2 "It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.
3 "Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.
John 19:11
11 Jesus answered, "You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above. Therefore the one who delivered Me to you has the greater sin."
2 Tim 2:26
26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.
Rev 2:10
10 "Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
Eph 2:3
3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
Rom 12:19
19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord.
II Th 1:6
6 since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you,
(NKJ)

xxx From birth we have always had the devil talking to us. Right along with our guardian angel. And satan. Ofcourse satan and the devil are the same being. All the thoughts of wrath is from satan. All our good thoughts that help us are from our guardian angel. All our thoughts that deceive us into sinning is from the devil. That is why it is so important to find the Holy Spirit and learn from Him who is who. If you follow the Holy Spirit, He will lead you into resisting the devil and purging the thoughts and emotions that support the devil. Everyone has their own devil, satan, Holy Spirit, guardian angel.

[Eph 2:1-2
[1] And you [He made alive], who were dead in trespasses and sins,
[2] in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,

[Mat 12:28-30
28 "But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.
29 "Or how can one enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house.
30 "He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.

[Luk 8:27-30, 32-33
27 And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in [any] house, but in the tombs.
28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, [thou] Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.
29 (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)
30 And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him. ...
32 And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.
33 Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.

Jesus gives us the revelations of Jesus Christ. Which is all verses.
The Bible is a Book and it has never consisted of verses neither are verses ordain by GOD. Never take a sentence out of a story or a paragraph and run with it. If we do we may fall into error unless it is poetry or a line of a song [psalm]. We must always be careful because our adversary is always whispering in our ear and he knows The Scripture better than we do and he knows who we really are more than we do. And he is very angry because who we are.

SCRIPTURE IS ALREADY OUT OF CONTEXT(YOU NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT TO PUT IT RIGHT)(HE WILL ONLY QUOTE VERSES)
John 16:25
25 "These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; but the time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but I will tell you plainly about the Father
John 16:29
29 His disciples said to Him, "See, now You are speaking plainly, and using no figure of speech!
John 12:49
49 "For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.
Matt 13:34
34 All these things Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables; and without a parable He did not speak to them,
Matt 13:9-11
9 "He who has ears to hear, let him hear!"
10 And the disciples came and said to Him, "Why do You speak to them in parables?"
11 He answered and said to them, "Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.
John 16:12
12 "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
2 Tim 2:19
19 Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity."
1 Cor 3:1-2
1 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ.
2 I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able;
Heb 5:12-14
12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.
13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.
14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
2 Cor 5:5
5 Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.
John 14:26
26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
John 8:43
43 "Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word.
Mark 4:13-15
13 And He said to them, "Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables?
14 "The sower sows the word.
15 "And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts.
Mark 4:18-19
18 "Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word,
19 "and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
1 Cor 2:13
13 These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
2 Cor 3:5-6
5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God,
6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
1 Cor 2:7
7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory,
1 Cor 1:18-19
18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent."
1 Cor 1:21
21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.
2 Pet 3:16
16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.
(NKJ)
xxx The bible is already out of context. What the bible says is that everything Jesus spoke He spoke in parables. And everything Paul spoke he spoke the milk understanding. But they both said to find the Holy Spirit and learn from Him. And the Holy Spirit only quotes verses in the meat. There is a milk understanding and there is a meat understanding. The meat is only verses. You receive the gifts of the Spirit in the milk, but to go into the meat you have to follow the verses(Holy Spirit). There are lots of stories about different things. They were put there just to be able to get all the things the Holy Spirit will need to teach us with.

[2Ti 2:14–15
[14] Remind [them] of these things, charging [them] before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers.
[15] Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2 Tim 3:12
12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
(NKJ)

2 Tim 3:14-15
14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them,
15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

And if God does not speak to us directly, then Jesus is a liar. When he says my sheep hears my voice and they will not follow another.

recently there are a few non-trinitarians on this site and to be completely honest, i am partial to that line of thinking.
however, in this case it sort of destroys some of their own arguments because..

If God didn't speak to us directly in the OT, and he didn't speak to us directly in the NT..

well both the OT and the NT agree on this point: it IS by the Spirit of God that the prophets spoke in the OT and the righteous men of God spoke in the NT.
even Jesus talks about this in a few places where he explains it is not him speaking but he is speaking by the will of the Father. how does he know what the Will of the Father is? hmm..

while i'm partial to non trinitarian view points, i would argue that the best witness to the Holy spirit being a third person is Jesus own explanation: he carefully explains that the Holy Spirit does not speak by its own authority* but only what it hears from the Father does it speak.

so if you want to argue God never spoke to anyone. sure go ahead. doesn't change anything.

*if the Holy Spirit is its own person then it would have its own authority.. hmm.
so in other words.. what if the Holy Spirit is its own person but it doesn't have authority to speak unless given to it by the Father??~!

in other words.. doesn't really matter.. Jesus explains that any word spoken against him is forgivable but not spoken against the Holy Spirit.
why is this important?

because the Torah already explained that blasphemy against the Father.. ie.. YHWH.. is unforgivable. Jesus was equating the Holy Spirit with the Father.

any chain of custody in proper authority is equivalent to the highest person who directed the action...
why Jesus says its possible for words spoken against him to beforgiven, i don't know.
it may have something to do with "all power on earth and in heaven has been given to me.."
and elsewhere he delegates authority to forgive and remit sin, as well.... but, he cannot delegate authority he wasn't given, such as outlined in the torah regarding blasphemy.

And if God does not speak to us directly, then Jesus is a liar. When he says my sheep hears my voice and they will not follow another.
Hello @PloughBoy,

In Hebrews 1:1-3, we are told how God has spoken, by which means and at what time, but now He is silent. We have His written word, by which the Holy Spirit now communicates to us the things of God, but God Himself is now silent. He will one day speak again, directly, at the time of judgment to come, but until then He is silent. His' voice' is heard through the reading and application of the written 'word', now.

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris

Well I understand where you coming but the average Christian have never took the time to read or study the two authors and the explanation of The Trinty doctrine. You can tell by their discussions about it. And never do they talk about in conversation the conclusion that the “Trinty Doctrine” final statement arrives too.
So I never engage about The “Doctrine of The Trinty” for it is useless to do among The Illiterate of such a topic. It is like a Brain surgeon in conversation and discussing Brain surgery with a pipe Plummer. The Plummer might understand the pipe system of the brain. But he have not read The Book or put in the necessary time it is needed about the brain and how far and deep he can go and know his limits.
Now I have discussed in Anthropomorphic terms and The conclusion of The Doctrine of The Trinty by its co-author on final explanation. Now if that eludes some minds, try this one.

How can a finite mind comprehend The Infinite.
For is impossible, because The Infinite GOD is INCOMPREHENSIBLE to a finite mind.
For no one has The mind to To comprehend a “Triune GOD”! For the term is “Anthropomorphic” for the human mind.
But only a fool will try to understand it who has a corrupted and fallen mind to engage such a matter.

For The Bible says: “The fool has said there is no GOD”
And one of the ways he may do That is, trying to explaining “The Triune GOD” instead of excepting The ETERNAL “I AM” who “I AM”.

I understand we [the chosen ones] do not have Hebrews 1, explain to us, we just read it, for it does not need to be interpreted “When the plain sense of scripture makes common sense seek no other sense”

Thanks complete.

PS. The Word of GOD is Living to us to many others it is no more than words written in a book for what other books do, that is give information.

For to some, The Elect, The Chosen, The Anointed Ones” The Book was written for us and not them. Seeing they see and do not understand neither have they the capability to understand yet they express and always giving their way of instructions into something they don’t understand but it seems clear to them.

The unholy and those who refuse Sanctification and Holiness who are in Christ Only hurt and fool themselves.

Just my 2 cents but the Lord has spoken to me several times. It has never been audible externally to my human ear, it occurs from within you as thats where the kingdom of God is.
"God was IN Christ Jesus reconciling the world unto Himself." He resides in the elect in exactly the same way.

Not to argue the point but in the OT he spoke to plenty of people, whether they be priests, or prophets, or kings. In the New He spoke to John the Baptist for reference.

I would also add that it is very hard to do the will of the Father for you personally if you cannot hear his will for you specifically. "My sheep hear my voice"

I feel quite discouraged for all who have not heard His voice and believe they have the Spirit, for without that Spirit you are none of His.

If faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God who is God how can anyone ever please the Father for it is impossible to please God without faith?

Faith comes by hearing the Word of God which is the voice of Jesus who is God.

God doesnt speak to us personally. Because He has turned over to Jesus all we need to know. And they Holy Spirit can quote it all.

[Jhn 12:48-50
48 "He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him--the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. 49 "For I have not spoken on My own [authority]; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. 50 "And I know that His command is everlasting life. God doesnt speak to us directly?? Really?! I talk to him almost all day, every day. And yes I hear his voice, sometimes energy. He is real, not some cloud of light. A lot of time and internet data has been wasted on these posts lately. The battle has well and truly begun between the light and darkness.

Telling people that only you can interpret the bible on your own and God will only quote scripture, nothing more, oh and here let me help you understand it has got to be the ultimate power trip.
