Hitch is speaking of the spiritually dead....sometimes one very close is dead to God (Isaiah 59:2) and we have to put them in God's hands. If we want to follow Jesus we have to let them go their own way.

Look, He did!!!
Jesus often taught in Parables and by using symbolic references.
You have to understand this, you just can't go back and find passages that explain EXACTLY what he said.

I may very well be wrong, but looking at who Jesus was and what He was about, I think He meant this:
One needs not to concern themselves with tradition or other concerns about the dead; it is to late for them...One needs to concern themselves with following Him and spreading the GOSPEL of the LIVING!!

You know, I think I see A LOT of value in trying to understand Him...not so sure about YOU though!
All you seem to understand is SLANDERING others to build up yourself!

When Im asked a question I will respond if I care to . Your approval is as unnecessary as it is unwanted.
Take note it was NOT me who referred to another member as a dog, and you can NEVER say that.

LOL you have responded of your own volition, no one has forced you. This forum has a very good 'ignore' feature, it even works for drama queens.

In reading your posts quoted above you show you dont believe the Scriptures explain themselves. You have given 3 different accounts of what you believe Jesus meant .

You have to understand this, you just can't go back and find passages that explain EXACTLY what he said.

When a suggestion into understanding ie: the psalms, you reject the possibility of learning.

Jesus would have always been more interested in the living than the dead and spreading the true gospel to the still living.
Other than that , you have to go with your own understanding .

Do you not understand Christ preached to the 'dead' those living are saved. You and i were once dead in out sin . Death of the body is not as big a deal as death of the spirit or soul.
