Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? Psalm 139:7 NKJV
We Americans value our privacy. Most of us don’t want any person or entity monitoring or watching as we live our lives. And when someone seems to be watching us, we feel great discomfort, even to the point of lashing out and protesting, “Leave me alone!”
The Bible, however, teaches us that nothing we do truly is in private, that we have eyes on us at every moment. The eyes of our loving God are on us every moment of every day. Our God knows what we do, what we think, and where we go. He also knows when we’re struggling and need His help to endure.
But God doesn’t watch us constantly out of some sort voyeurism or because He’s waiting for us to mess up so He can pounce. He watches us at all times because He loves us and wants to care for our needs, because He wants to bless us for our obedience and correct us and teach us when we stray from His ways.
You can’t hide yourself from the eyes of your eternally loving heavenly Father. And even if you could, you shouldn’t want to!
Prayer: All-seeing Father in heaven, thank You for knowing me and knowing everything I do. Help me to walk so closely with You that I’m overcome with the knowledge that You’re with me always.
