Random Bible Verse

Hello there brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ.

I am new here, and i have 1 question about random Bible verse.

Is there some chapter or verse about it in the Bible?

I mean what Bible say about this action?

Like when we open Bible on some random page,

and just start read the first verse scripture which we found.


Is that not sin?


For example here i just found this function - Random Bible Verse Generator (KJV) ✝️ MyBibleVerses.org

And when i opened, i got this verse:


Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

Hebrews 12:14

My experience is that God speaks to us in many ways. For those that dream alot and remember them, He may well send dreams. Some He sends visions to. Some hear a vocal message from God like in 1 samuel chap 3. Others hear a gentle whisper into their minds, not vocal. Some people look for signs, sometimes God provides signs, sometimes He doesnt for good reasons. Some people with a low connection to the Holy Spirit, but they revere scripture, will do as you say, praying God would guide their hands in parting the pages, before they do so. God will sometimes honor this as well, but He really wants your spiritual connection to be stronger, so that you dont need the lesser ways. Faith is what God wants for us. Faith and a strong spiritual connection to the Holy Spirit who is supposed to guide us in all things.

I know for sure; God Bible is not to be approach as one pulling "Fortune Cookies" out of Jar. Or reading your Horoscope for today or this month. The Bible IS A BOOK, not made up of verses with numbers. Were we taught to read a book by selecting random pages or sentences neglecting paragraphs. The word Bible means "Book" The Book, not Bible, that is the Koine Greek BOOK, So don't think "Bible" think "The BOOK", SO now, how do you read a "Book". How do you understand a Book,

Just trying to be helpful. The Book does not have any verses in it. That is not "Ordain" of GOD but The BOOK is. Ordain of GOD.

Such a great reply. This is so true, because even if i don't ask God - he speaks sometimes with me through people, or internet when i sad e.t.c.. And i don't realize that every time.

I am not read that random Bible verse in order to get some "Cookies out of Jar". I think it's just the one of the method of studying the Bible, no?

Nothing wrong with picking out verse at at random, but I'd say there are better ways to approach reading the Bible.

One of the things that most of us tend to pay too little attention to, is that the Bible is a consistent multithreaded story of God's work in the world.

Find ways to read the Bible that help you understand each part's relation to the whole. You'll get a far richer understanding and appreciation of God's word.

Probably you have right, but what you think about old testament, is the need for Christians read that?

All of God's word must be read in context. If you pick out a verse in Acts to show how the spirit filled believers on pentecost together spoke in different tongues, but fail to read where Paul says in his epistle that not all Spirit filled believers will speak in tongues, you might wrongly conclude all Spirit-filled believers speak in tongues, and wrongly conclude if they don't speak in tongues they aren't Spirit-filled. That would be stumbling in your own walk. Read the Bible from cover to cover and keep what God says in it in context.

Reading the Word that way is not really helpful...Its more akin to Chrisitan fortune cookies.....Choose a BOOK and start from the first verse to the last....See what God has to say, and let it feed your spirit.

Thanks, as to be Christian i really need to know Bible. I will start from first to the last page. :innocent:
