The king also said to them, "Take with you the servants of your lord, and have Solomon my son ride on my own mule, and take him down to Gihon. 1 Kings 1:33 NKJV
Isn’t God’s appointed king supposed to ride a valiant warrior horse? No, in biblical history. Yes in biblical prophecy yet to be fulfilled.
David rode on a mule. Solomon rode his father’s mule.
David’s greatest descendant, the Messiah, would ride a mule. Listen to Zechariah 9:9: “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He [is] just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.” Jesus fulfilled that prophecy in every way as seen in Matthew 21 and John 12.
Then again, in Revelation 19, John pictures Jesus in His second coming Verse 11 introduces the scene: “Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him [was] called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.”
Isn’t God’s anointed King of kings and Lord of lords supposed to ride a valiant warrior horse? Yes, indeed!
Prayer: Lord, You want me to look forward always to the return of Jesus. He is my King, Lord, and Savior now and always.
