Preachers that write books

what do you think about preachers that write books ...and then tell all there small groups in his church to buy copies and start studying it,,, and do group discussion on his book,, because it has the power to change you life?? yes the book is about the bible,

this does not seem right to me, am I off base here????

Sounds a little off to me as well. Nothing wrong with writing a self help book for people, but asking your parishioners to all buy the book and to follow it, seems like he is pointing the wrong way, to "his" book, to fix your life.

this does not seem right to me, am I off base here????

A well written book can contain far more teaching on a subject than a sermon or a Sunday school class....Why not suggest buying a book that one knows has good teaching in it? I see nothing wrong with it. Why not suggest a source of solid information on things of God? It can be a good thing....except to those who judge others...or don't think it through. I know tha there is nobody on this forum who does that.
