Matt 24:3; As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?"
Matt 24:4; And Jesus answered and said to them, "See to it that no one misleads you.
Matt 24:5; "For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will mislead many.
Matt 24:6; "You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end.
Matt 24:7; "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes.
Matt 24:8; "But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs.
Matt 24:9; "Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name.
Matt 24:10; "At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another.
Matt 24:11; "Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many.
Matt 24:12; "Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold.
Matt 24:13; "But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.
Matt 24:14; "This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.
The disciples asked Jesus two simple questions.
"Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?"
It's interesting that Jesus doesn't immediately answer their question, but instead says "See to it that no one misleads you."
The next verse says many will say "I am the Christ" ..and... will mislead many.
I can't help but think of many of the "new Christian" denominations that have popped up in the last 150 years or so here in the US.
1Tim 4:1; Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
The Mormon.. "Church of Latter Day Saints" is one of these new religions. Jehovah's Witnesses would be another, there are others.
But they believe in a different Jesus than the Jesus of the Bible. They have "a Christ" and indeed Jesus was right, they will "mislead many".
It's interesting the Bible warns about the latter days. But one large church calls themselves "Latter Day Saints".
Finally Jesus does answer their questions.
He says "you will hear about wars and rumors of wars". In a way this alone is vague, because there have always been wars.
I read an article recently that said there are about 100 lightning strikes every single second, somewhere in the world. There has never been a single second since
anyone has started measuring these things, that lightning has not struck the Earth someplace. It is seemingly much the same with war. There has never been
an entire year since records have been kept, there was total peace on the Earth, there has always been a war somewhere. There has been a battle of some sort
going on somewhere since..., well since old Testament times for sure.
You don't hear much about this on the news for some reason, but tensions between the US and China are pretty high right now. I will be amazed if we aren't in a war
with China within the next year or two.
Jesus says "don't be frightened". Yet many Christians are frightened these days. Jesus says "these things MUST take place". It seems this isn't an option,
these things have to happen. Jesus says "but that is not the end yet". There is more to come.
Jesus says "in various places there will be famines and earthquakes". Again, these things have been happening, seemingly since the dawn of time. But have you noticed lately
there have been more and more Earthquakes in places there have never been Earthquakes before? Seemingly famines have lessened over the last decade, but Jesus says
"there will be famines".
Matt 24:8 "But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs.
But this is just the beginning.... after this, it will get worse.
Matt 24:9; "Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name.
Matt 24:10; "At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another.
I can't help but think we are seeing this more in this day and age than we have ever before. Hundreds of Christians are being killed for their faith everyday.
"many will fall away". Fall away from what? The rooftop? No, many will fall away from the church, sound doctrine, and even their Christian faith.

Take a look out on the internet. See how many different teachers, and teachings there are. We have churches that say "gay and lesbian lifestyles are OK with God". We have churches that says
"abortion is OK with God". We have churches that say "some races matter to God more than other races". We have churches that deny the deity of Jesus. We have churches that say Jesus
was "re-incarnated" as Michael the arch-angel. .... "and will mislead many". Not just mislead a few, but mislead.. "many". These false prophets are everywhere, some are even here on TalkJesus
from time to time. Eventually most are called out, and many leave. But some stay, and new ones show up from time to time.

Lawlessness is increased. Whoa, was there ever a truer verse in the Bible? Vandalism, rioting, burning, fighting, is more and more prevalent everyday. Even when these people are caught
corrupt lawyers and judges are immediately letting them go again, the police are being de-funded in many communities, and they no longer have the authority to stop this lawlessness in many cities.
Matt 24:13 "But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.
The one who endures. Is that you" Will you endure? Have you ever looked at the word "endure"?

Will you remain in your faith? Or... will you fall away? The Bible says "many" will fall away, it seems that "few" will not.

With the advent of radio, television, and the internet so much information is rapidly encompassing the entire Earth, much of it is bad, but there is also the gospel.
I am told there are still places on the Earth that have never heard the gospel. Languages that have never had a Bible translated into them. Still, I can't help but
believe the time is getting very close. It could definitely be in our lifetime.
I know threads like this are "pas'se", I have to admit I've heard Jesus is coming, the rapture is right around the corner for the last 50 years, it hasn't happened yet.
But...
2Pet 3:3; Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts,
2Pet 3:4; and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation."
2Pet 3:5; For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water,
Many have forgotten who their creator is, they don't know who created this world and even this entire universe. They don't believe He is coming back, it will be to their peril.
They say "it has been thousands of years, surely he would have come back now, it's all a myth, lets go back to the worldly way of things".
Matt 24:42; "Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.
Matt 24:44; "For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.
Matt 24:48; ''But if that evil slave says in his heart, 'My master is not coming for a long time,'
Matt 24:49; and begins to beat his fellow slaves and eat and drink with drunkards;
There will be some of "the Master's slaves" who will give up, they will go back to doing the things they did before.
Matt 24:50; the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour which he does not know,
Matt 24:51; and will cut him in pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
